October 10, 20223 yr So this is a question mostly directed at developers for all of the flight sim platforms. How hard is it to go back and revise runway or taxiway markings at airports you have already published? I remember I inquired about getting KIDA fixed from orbx and apparently because of licensing reasons they could not go back and change the runway heading. I was confused because I thought since the technical side of the runway was already taken care of, a simple “painting over” the runway markings to the correct heading would take all of 5 minutes to do and release an update. Another airport is Imaginesim’s KAUS. As airports become older this is going to start happening more frequently. So is it really licensing that’s the hold up? I can’t imagine anyone is paying that close attention to a developer correcting paint on the ground. Sounds a little silly to me. So is it?

KIDA was made by a third-party developer (i.e. Orbx is only the publisher, not the scenery creator). Due to this, Orbx cannot make any changes to the product without express permission from the original creators—Turbulent Designs. If you have any desire to be considered a respectable business, you absolutely do not do anything that breaks licensing agreements. Unfortunately, Turbulent Designs is no longer active in the flight sim arena, therefore their KGPI, KIDA, KMBS and Terraflora add-ons are very unlikely to be updated. That's just the nature of flight simming, I'm afraid. Products eventually become outdated or obsolete. You could try to make changes to the runway number texture files yourself (make backups first). Perhaps try the FSDeveloper com forums to find a method to make the changes you desire, if you aren't au fait with the scenery techniques required to do this. October 11, 20223 yr I remember staying on FS2004 longer than most. This was a problem that got worse and worse as runway numbers changed over time. This will be the same in p3d as developers have shifted focus elsewhere. It's possible some independent people will issue fixes. 5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW and 2 22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU, 360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next
October 11, 20223 yr This could be an issue with scenery layering. I had an issue once where I had no runway markings at all on some airfields, but putting the layers in the correct order (thanks to the Lorby SI P3D Addon Organizer) solved my issue. However, this does not sound like the same. Jorgen

While Turbulent isn't active anymore, one of their developers -- Bill Womack states that he is. He is the author of KACK and KPDX (and perhaps others). With that being said, I don't remember any recent updates from him. October 11, 20223 yr Author IDK fellas. I just think it’s trifling in a way. ESPECIALLY with how much money we are shelling out for payware products. They should at least give us updates to their work. Just like orbx KBZN. The airport looks so much different now than when orbx developed it. They added a runway and a taxiway. How hard would it be for a major developer like them to just update the airport to modern standards? I hate to beat up on orbx but another example is KACK. One of the ILS’ isn’t even functional. And to add insult to injury, a guy on YouTube actually figured out what the issue was and fixed it! I’m not saying I’m lazy and can’t do the same fix, but for $25, why couldn’t they have fixed the ILS themselves? They just leave it broken and move on. Idk

But never forget. These products are not subscriptions. We are buying the airport at the time of release. While updates are nice, we should never expect them unless promised. Especially on simulator platforms that are no longer close to as popular as they were just a couple years ago. 5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW and 2 22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU, 360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next
