October 20, 20223 yr What does holographic shell do and how does this mess with MSFS in VR? Since, turning it off, all my stutters, freezes, CTDs and black screens have disappeared. Just wondering. (ComputerManagement/System Tools/Performance/DataCollector Sets/Even Trace Sessions/HolographicShell)
October 20, 20223 yr I think it is meant to allow 2D app windows to appear as popups in a 3D VR environment. It also apparently does a lot of data logging according to some forums. It has been causing issues in quite a few games since the last Windows update.

I don't think there is, however I did find this handy trick to save a bit of time from having to open Computer Management and going through the menus to turn it Off every single time: Create a Text document on your desktop and enter this inside: @echo off logman stop HolographicShell -ets Then rename the text document to a Batch file, example: HolographicShellOff.bat Then when in VR and it's lagging, right-click the file and Run As Administrator and voila, it's turned off. I have noticed HolographicShell doesn't run every time I run WMR, seems to be random to me, anyway hope that helps.
