I target R7 5800X even if 5800X3D seems better but more expensive. What do you think ? An other question : Do I have to upgrade BIOS before the change or after ? October 22, 20223 yr I would do the BIOS update before installing the CPU. You should very seriously consider the X3D CPU (assuming you don't need super performance in applications). It is (for the next 13 hours) $399.99 at Newegg. There are a number of videos on YT showing the excellent performance of this in games. October 22, 20223 yr 5800x3d, its still the best chip for msfs vs all of them. A 5800x3d is probably 35/40% faster then 5800 in msfs. 7900x3d , 64gb 6200mhz 30CL Ram, RTX 3080

October 22, 20223 yr @sfgiants13 -- there won't be another chip released for the AM4 platform which is what the 5800x3d runs on. The new chips (the 7xxxx3D) are not going to be released until Q1 2023 and requires a AM5 motherboard and DDR5 RAM (which is ATM more expensive than DD4 on the AM4 platform). So you are looking at a more expensive solution in the future. And yes, the current x3d chip will probably decrease overtime in price, but it depends on how long you want to wait for a price drop. Now I'll wait for the 4090 to come in stock and hopefully black friday will have some deals to complete the rest of the build. It will be quite the upgrade over my 1060 and whatever garbage CPU I have even though it did manage to run P3D fairly well with low enough settings.
