November 21, 20223 yr Skyway Airlines - regional NSW Commuter went out of business in the early 1980s. Airlines of WA later taken over by MacRobertson Miller MacRobertson Miller Airlines. WA based airline taken over by Ansett became Ansett WA and dissappeared when Ansett collapsed. A big Dover operator in their day.
November 21, 20223 yr Interesting plane. I saw a "graveyard" of these with wings detached at Reading PA airport maybe 20 years ago. Reading Air Service, I believe...red and cream livery. They are no longer there.
November 21, 20223 yr Author Indeed a good looking aeroplane designed by the same designer at De Havilland who created the DH Mosquito. First flew in 1945 and the ended up building 544 of them. Good load capacity could carry 7 pax and had supercharged De Havilland Gypsy Queen engines (inline inverted six cylinders 200 -400 hp). Used extensively around the world by civilian and military operators alike. This is the JF/AH version originally for FSX but updated for P3DV5. There are a number of others from MS2004 by British Classic Flight Sim. Plenty of repaints for them as well. But not of Australian ones which is why I did these. The military version was called the Devon (it had a clear bubble canopy). In Australia they were used by the early airlines, the Royal Flying Doctor Service and commercial charter operators alike. Quite a few remain in museums but only a handful still fly. There is a German restored version LTU is registered very nice video of the Dove and flying it:
November 24, 20223 yr Great looking throwback images...! Thanks for sharing...!! Yes, do recall some of these Aussie Airlines during my recent inquiries...I also recall that JF/AH package included a few Devons e.g., from Royal Navy and RNZAF...

Indeed it did have the Devons but that clear bubble canopy was not a goer with civilian operators - having spent a bit of time in aeroplanes with bubble canopies they very quickly become unbearable hot in Australia or anywhere similar so if it goes to 37C out side you end up with a cockpit temp approaching 50C which is a killer literally.
