November 25, 20223 yr P_7878 with his posting about the Herons in Oz reminded me of the long gone Butler Airways a NSW Australia based airline started by Arthur Butler (Yorkshireman) who lost his company to Ansett. All of these screenshots were taken of models available and eminently flyable in P3DV5 and FSX. It is a little potted history of Butler. The Rapide The Heron The DC-3 The Airspeed Ambassador and last the Viscount
November 26, 20223 yr Wonderful...! This completes the story of (gradual) evolution of the Butler aircraft...from the Rapide to the Viscount...🙂... [BTW, your (this) post pointed out a misstatement I'd made in my Heron post...Thanks for sharing these pictures ...]
November 26, 20223 yr Author For those interested the relevant sim models are: Dave Garwood's Dragon Rapide V4 Flight Replicas DH 114 Manfred Jahn's C-47 (3.1406 Version) Richardson's Airspeed Ambassador (still available in the Library at Sim Outhouse only) The great Jen Kristensen (JBK) Viscount 700 and 800 FSX Native Versions which work fine in P3DV5 because they have been converted to FSX Native and hence have an interior model.
March 20, 20233 yr I am the Secretary of Arthur Butler Aviation Museum of Tooraweenah NSW. Thank you, Coastaldriver for posting those images of Butler Air Transport Pty Ltd aircraft, although I doubt if the DH Dragon ever saw a watery landscape. I'm not a flight sim user, but those photos will be of immense use when I am finishing off the display models to exhibit at the Arthur Butler Aviation Museum at Tooraweenah NSW. That bit of red detail will set off the 48" wingspan model I am making, and also the 1/72 scale one the line-up of Butler's aircraft from the Avro 504K to the Airspeed Ambassadors. Have you heard of the two aircraft Butler designed and built for his personal use? Known as BAT-1 and BAT-2. Nothing exists of them any more, except the cockpit and attached engine mounts of BAT-2. I invite you to visit Tooraweenah to see our small collection of material. If you come this coming May, on the 20th you can watch al the aircraft competing in the Arthur Butler Trophy air rally, and maybe even see some historic aircraft that you can scan to make images for your sims.
