December 5, 20223 yr Hi All, I just picked up a 55 inch LG QNED85 Mini Led TV that has VRR, it is not showing as a "Gsync Compatible" TV but when turned on in the TV's Game Optimizer screen it does show as Nvidia Gsync. It does also have AMD Freesync Premium. I have set everything up and enabled the Gsync display overlay which I see in the sim which tells me Gsync is working, what I am seeing is at 60 fps everything is really smooth and stays that way until around 55 fps but if I drop further to say 48 - 50 fps things look awful. According to the info I could find the VRR range should be 20Hz - 120Hz. Should Gsync still keep things smooth at 45fps? I rarely ever drop below that and if it does happen it is only for a split second? I read through the instructions for setting up Gsync on Blur Busters and have tried all the options but cannot improve on what I described above. Here are my current settings: TV Refresh Rate - 60Hz (I tried 120Hz & 100 Hz but get some flickering which is really distracting when Gsync is on) NVCP - Gsync for Full screen & windowed NVCP - Gsync compatible monitor NVCP - Low Latency On NVCP - Highest preferred refresh rate NVCP - Vsync to Application Controlled MSFS - Vsync @ 100% Refresh rate of monitor MSFS - DX11 & HDR 10 Riva Tuner - Frames capped at 60 My PC can maintain 60fps the majority of the time and with the settings above I get a super smooth frame time graph but I cannot for the life of me figure out why Gsync doesn't seem to be effective below 55fps. I tried the Nvidia Pendulum demo and confirmed the VRR range is 20Hz to 120 Hz. I would love to hear any thoughts from those of you experienced with VRR technology in MSFS. I do not seem to find any benefit running at the native 120Hz when I am only getting 60 - 70 fps max in the sim or am I missing something? The picture on this TV is really nice and HDR looks amazing, I do have 30 days to return it but I am hoping I can figure things out. December 7, 20223 yr My suggestion: Turn off V-sync in the game, and in NV CP set it to FAST. Turn off any frame cap. Set your refresh rate to 120Hz if that's what your TV runs at. You should have no tearing and no flicker if you just let it run uncapped - using v-sync FAST in NV CP. Edited December 7, 20223 yr by Virtual-Chris
December 7, 20223 yr The thing with TV's or monitors that are only Gsync compatible means that they might not be capable of lower refresh rates that wouldn't normally be an issue with most games, but often are MSFS or P3d etc because of the lower frame rates. Even though the TV has VRR, it's the minimum refresh rate that plays the most important role for simmers and is often not listed or is very difficult to find. If it is actually 20-120 then it shouldn't be a problem. Are you using a good quality HDMI 2.1 cable? Edited December 7, 20223 yr by Dave_YVR i7-13700KF, 32gb DDR4 3200, RTX 4080, Win 11, MSFS 2024

What I found tonight is that if I set the TV to 120Hz with all Vsync off and no frame cap Vsync appears to be working, I loaded some heavy weather and took off and the fps did fluctuate from 65 down to around 45 but the smoothness was there, now comes the but … I cannot stop the screen from flickering. I did the same test but this time at 60Hz and while I did not have any flickering as soon as the fps dropped below 55 it was not smooth at all. What I cannot wrap my head around is how come at 120 Hz Gsync was working but it only had a 5fps or so window at 60Hz. This TV is supposed to have a VRR range of 20Hz - 120Hz. I’m never going anywhere near 30 fps yet alone 20 fps. I do really like the picture quality but I really wanted VRR. It seems Gsync flickering is quite common. I may end up returning it and just going for a decent 60Hz panel, is it really beneficial having a 120Hz display for MSFS ? I have 2 HDMI cables that supposed to be certified, a 2m cable from Canada Computers and a 1m cable from Amazon. I did wonder about picking up a $100 Rocketfish cable from Best Buy just to try. Ironically I just use this PC for MSFS Chris, I am not really a gamer. I do still have X-Plane 11 and can give this a try, I will also download the NVIDIA pendulum demo and see what that looks like. I can look for a demo of a different game as well.
