December 5, 20223 yr My first two thoughts are: 1. All that helium gone forever. 2. When he says the balloons are biodegradable, does he mean they biodegrade chemically into harmless constituents or, more likely, they biodegrade physically into microplastics. Also, I remember someone doing a more basic version of this about 40 years ago and the last thing I remember is he was heading towards a cliff face at about 35 mph and couldn't do a thing about it. It is claimed that latex balloons degrade at about the same rate as oak leaves but, apparently oak leaves are particularly durable and take at least four years to biodegrade. Only one peer-reviewed scientific study has quantified balloon degradation. They tested elasticity for up to one year, which means the balloons were intact for that whole time. I couldn't access the report of the study because I'd have to buy it. Dugald Walker
