December 14, 20223 yr Hi all, I jumped into the default Caravan today for a flight in the freezing UK conditions and was delighted when I saw ice all over my windscreen whilst on the runway for the first time. It was at this point I realised I had no idea if there is an anti ice option or even how to use such an option? Can anyone give an idea what I need to do in such conditions? p.s. the aircraft can still fly with ice on it but I couldn’t see much! 😀
December 14, 20223 yr Im not sure how well anti-ice is modeled in the default Caravan. But i would also like to know which switch to flip in which icing condition....
December 14, 20223 yr Yes - de-icing controls are on the left side of the front panel right next to the Pitot and Stall Heat controls, There are 3 switches, as I recall: On-Off for the flow Maximize to certain areas (windscreen/body) Back-up I'll have to start MSFS to grab some images... December 15, 20223 yr Here you go: The Icing group is to the left of the PFD... The Pitot and Stall heaters are on the left side of the Anti-Ice group - these should be turned on once you drop below 5° C. The De-Icing controls (fluid control) are on the right. The 1st switch activates with settings of Norm or High. The 2nd allows you to set max flow to the windshield or the airframe. Randall Rocke
December 15, 20223 yr Author Thank you very much, this is really helpful. Looking forward to giving this a go…
December 15, 20223 yr https://flightsim.to/file/16350/cessna-208b-grand-caravan-ex-improvement-mod Watch your de-icing fluid on the mod. As far as on the ramp with icing. Set throttle on high idle with parking brake on and run the rpm's up a little bit and I think it will clear things up. Been awhile since I ran into icing with the 208 mod on the ramp so don't quote me on the ramp trick. Happy Landings
