January 2, 20233 yr I remember The Court Martial of Billy Mitchell (1955) which was a good movie, at least from a historical perspective. I was surprised to learn that, in 1925, Mitchell foresaw the Japanese aerial attack on Pearl Harbor. Dugald Walker
January 2, 20233 yr Author Another good one on TCM tonight. Inherit the Wind with Spencer Tracy, Frederick March, Gene Kelly, and Harry Morgan. Imagine, a movie in which Gene Kelly doesn't dance! As for Harry Morgan I can't help seeing Colonel Potter in every movie I see him in. The second one is one I have never seen or even heard of before. Not as a Stranger. But it has a dynamite cast. Robert Mitchum, Olivia de Havilland, Frank Sinatra, Gloria Graham, Broderick Crawford, Charles Bronson, Harry Morgan and Lee Marvin. All the description says is Robert Mitchum is a medical student who marries a nurse (Olivia de Havilland) to help pay his expenses. I can guess the plot, but have any of you seen it? Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.
January 3, 20233 yr Author Last evening I watched 'Not as a Stranger' and it was weird. You don't expect to see Robert Mitchum, Frank Sinatra and Lee Marvin in these types of roles. They are friends in medical school and it follows them though medical school, internship, and for Robert Mitchum, a full fledged doctor. The roles are so atypical of what you expect from them. But, that's acting. And all three of them are good at it. Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.
