Envshade and Envplus work together?

Featured Replies

I already had Envshade and added Envplus. I don't see how the two work together.

For example, with just Envshade running I'll set Aircraft Shadows to very low. When I use the slider to enable Envplus, aircraft shadows shows '1'. What does the 1 represent and how is that related to the 'very low' setting with just Envshade?

Thanks,

Mark

It is quite simple:  If you activate Envplus, there are more parameters you can adjust, and you can set any value directly as a decimal (while using Envshade only limits the range of values from 0.5 to 1.5).

A value of 1 means reference (or default) value, 'very low' setting corresponds to 0.5.

I am still on the fence with PLUS - could u give some examples of extra features which are worth the purchase please

Yes. Here are the available settings with Envshade (without Envplus):

And here are the options with Envshade + Envplus:

I would say that if you use EA, the additional settings allow you to change the appearance of the sky and change the HDR tint. If you run your sim with EA off, the "Sky tint" settings have no effect, but the others have. And as you can see, you can enter any number directly for each parameter.

I use EA but with legacy clouds.

Appreciate ur reply 👍

For P3d v5 users who use Enhanced Atmospherics, Envplus is a great tool.  It affords us more settings, finer adjustments, and specific shader tweaks (although TOGA doesn't define them).  Envplus can bring a new level of immersion to Enhanced Atmospherics!

From the TOGA manual outlining what Envplus offers:

Envplus brings in depth customization and “Enhanced Atmospherics” shader tweaks for P3D v5. This requires Envshade to be owned and installed.
Envplus uses Envshade shaders tweaks and makes them totally customizable but also brings new “Enhanced atmospherics” shader tweaks for P3D v5. These new and customizable shader tweaks have been made as dynamic as possible, making the environment reactive to weather conditions, time of day and many other parameters, assuring a complete and optimal visual realism at any time with highly smooth transitions. Some of the new Envplus shaders tweaks or some parts of those tweaks are not customizable considering how complex they are, but they are optimized out of the box.

Hey Afterburner-

So, Envplus overides Envshade and the value range is 0.00 (low) to XX.XX or there about?

Correct!  There is a switch on the left side of the interface (not seen on the screenshots) that allows you to activate Envplus. If you do it, the latter will override Envshade. I don't know which highest possible value you can enter, but XX.XX works.
