Replacing Autogen Textures

Hi everybody

I'm trying to replace a roof  texture which I think does completely destroy the realistic look of any scenery with autogen buildings. I don't know if it's default or ORBX or anything else. If someone just knows the filename, I could mod that a bit.

Do you use Orbx HD Building ? There is one simular roof in this file.

64 roofs there - 5th left / 3rd down

Let me know where you have these issue so that I can take a look- I never saw that....

Hi Gerard

The file is indeed from ORBX in D:\Flightsim Addons\ORBX\p3dv5\Global Buildings HD\ORBX\Scripts\BuildingsHD\Core\Texture. On other paths I don't find that texture. The most annoying ist the wron orientation. It is stored in these files:

ORBX_Flat_Roofs.dds

ORBX_Flat_Roofs_B.dds (on two instances)

ORBX_Flat_Roofs_LM.dds

ORBX_Flat_Roofs_B_LM.dds (on two instances)

It is in KHUT N32° 7.00', W110° 55.96'. Scenery is from RWS-ULTRA VFR ARIZONA part4. The building is Autogenerated: {DBB7F0BB-7441-40BB-A066-7DB99E69ABC9}. Since I also modifiy the airport a bit, I will replace that building. But still, the Terminal is also with this roof. It could be the default scenery has the same roofs, with ORBX HD Buildings installed. Maybe time to disable it. I managed to repaint and safe the textures but still have these textures used. Maybe they are in cache somewhere. 

I also found the terminal model in the library KTUSP3D4Lib.BGL and there it has a roof texture called DarkGravelRoof.dds, which is darkgravel. So it takes the other and I don't know why. I disabled ORBX HD Buildings and check. Before I just reloaded the scenery to no avail.

How did you get Buildings HD working in P3Dv5 without stuttering?  I get an almost constant stuttering with it installed which is probably why I figured it's not officially compatible with P3Dv5, according to the Orbx Central store page, in the requirements section for it, the newest sim it's compatable with is P3Dv4.

You are right, the real guilty is ORBX HD Building version of "DarkGravelRoof" (and 6 other files).

On ORBX forum, you can find the fix for the "Orbx buildings repeating roof texture" from Graham Eccleston, dated April 2020 !

Yes - I have no issues (after applying the fix valid for V4 and V5)

I try now without Buildings HD, since the default are not as bad I think. Thanks for the research anyway. I don't go very often to the ORBX forums anymore, cause they are no longer interested in P3D5.

To fix the repeating roof texture, you just need to delete the following 7 files from Global Buildings HD\ORBX\Scripts\BuildingsHD\Core\Texture

drkgrayroof.dds
drkgray.dds
drkgray3.dds
dkgrayroof.dds
dkgrayroof3.dds
dkgray.dds
DarkGravelRoof.dds

to get back to the default P3D textures...

If I ever switch to MSFS I will keep in mind everything that is happening in Prepar3D. I won't forget!

Yes I got these files, thanks to this thread I started. I already had to disable ORBX Trees HD, because it placed autogen buildings where there shouldn't be buildings. I didn't miss it since. I also have Terraflora, Zinertek trees and airport textures. So I also don't mind loosing this ORBX product. It may even speed up my sim a bit. 😉

I don't believe that ORBX Trees has anything to do with autogen building placement.  It only replaces some stock tree textures and perhaps tree models.
