February 20, 20233 yr So never really faced this issue in other planes, before this one, but... I'm having great difficulty when kicking out the HJet's rudder just before touchdown so that you are pointing straight down the runway on windy landings. The reason for my trouble in performing this is the view angle out the front window, I just can't seem to perceive what is perfectly straight and what is not. I kick her out and think I've got it pointing straight only to realize after touching down that I wasn't so straight afterall. I've tried moving my view a little left or right but that didn't seem to help me much...I've even tried using an object in the cockpit as a reference point during line-up but I'm stil struggling with this. She can really be a handful for me on 15kt direct crosswind landings. Any tips? Edited February 20, 20233 yr by hangar Dave Kalin Excel Classes Computer Lessons
February 20, 20233 yr Using track IR or anything? If I recall irl the hdjt doesn't handle a lot of crosswind very well either (though 15 kt isn't a lot but it is significant). | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
February 20, 20233 yr Author Yea, it's a fairly light aircraft (lighter than the kingair anyway) but I have enough rudder to line it up...I just can't seem to get a feel for what is truly straight. Yes I am using track IR. Dave Kalin Excel Classes Computer Lessons

Yes I am using track IR. I don't know if you tried it already, but here we go - line up HJET on taxiway or runway. Make sure that centerline is exactly in the middle of HJET longitudinal axis (use external view) . With default trackIR pilot view, remember sight relationship between glareshield how taxiway/runway appears in you view trough windshield. This would be the best reference for aligning HJET with centerline during landing! Life time flight sim enthusiast, current airplane owner 172P (past C182F). February 20, 20233 yr Author @sd_flyerThanks sd, heh yea makes sense on paper at least...but when I try in the reality of the situation, we're talking about such tiny amounts of screen spacing here (like a millimeter or less) that it's too difficult for me to tell exactly...and if my brain is a mm off I wont track straight after touching down. I'm getting a bit frustrated, because I only fly with real weather so this makes for some windy approaches this time of the year in the NE U.S. But I will try again and reset TIR a few times, as well as my default view (using the centerline as you suggested. Practice practice practice I guess 🙂 <this aircraft is making me feel old!> Edited February 20, 20233 yr by hangar Dave Kalin Excel Classes Computer Lessons

But you are right it should take some practice. I did struggle little bit with keeping HJET on the centerline in the beginning.
