LOW BANDWIDTH ISSUE

Featured Replies

Is Microsoft ever going to fix this issue? So tired of it, every flight 😞

No low bandwidth issue here, a small french town.

Maybe a problem with your provider ? or too many people at the same time on the internet in your country.
Or too many fs 2020 users in your neighborhood !

I only get it sometimes, so it maybe depends on the connected server. You can try changing that in the user setting at top right.

Edit: FWIW it's not a local bandwidth issue as I can alt-tab out and download other things at full capacity

You might be able to download other things at full capacity and have no access at some other websites because some pipes are overloaded from time to time.
It's not your bandwidth issue, but a general bandwidth issue.
Of course, Ms can also have bandwidth issues on some servers, even if they use some kind of balancing systems between them.

Had this problem and read somewhere that a VPN would help. Was sceptical but gave it a go, could be coincidence but seems to have cured it 99%, generally now only happens about one in fifteen flights instead of every couple. Using one of the free services. Another coincidence is that my flights have been a lot smoother since I started doing so. Would be interested to hear anyone's feedback if they try it.

Interesting, I don't have this issue myself very often although I have experienced it in the past. I'm going to give the VPN a go and see how it affects performance.

Whenever I've had the low bandwidth message mid-flight I've always felt it's a microsoft server issue as I have a really strong connection.

So far it's only the MSFS servers that have the problem - I've not seen it in anything else.  If I could find out the IP addresses I could try a traceroute.

I was getting that message a few weeks ago. Finally ran an internet speed test, sure enough slow internet. I didn't realize it with other things just e-mails and browsing. Actually the simple old unplugging and plugging back in the router fixed it for me.

I have that stuff every second flight in the last two or three weeks. Of course I did a speed test and got 240 Kbit/s download, 46 Kbit/s upload and a Ping of 13 ms. So all is fine, it seems.

I first used to have that problem occasionally. But a month ago it started to happen every flight to the point that 'online functionality' would be switched off. Few moments after I'd accept the message, a small green message that internet was reestablished would appear. But if I'd go to settings to reenable online functionality, SIM would get stuck (little ring would never stop spinning).

I tried every tip and fix mentioned. Thought it was 'map enhancement problem'. Nope! Disabled all addons. Lowered all the settings....Nothing worked. I reinstalled the SIM. Nothing: the same!!!!

I reinstalled the windows and that sorted the things out. It's been a month and do far not the slightest problem.
