Clouds Getting Better But At A FPS Cost?

Featured Replies

Yep, would love to see some improvement on the clouds. The ones I really hate are the volcanic ash, cauliflower ones. So unrealistic and look awful. Also I think the clouds are a lot of the time too yellow/brown unless it’s absolutely midday and the sun is shining bright.

The constant rainbows are getting to be a bit much....

To test whether it can make MSFS colouring look somewhat better for you, do the following while MSFS is running:

Open the Nvidia GeForce Experience Game Filter using the key combination Alt + F3.
Next, Add Filter --> Colour --> Tint Colour 0% --> Tint Intensity 0% --> Temperature -10 --> Vibrance 0, then click 'Done'

Brings the MSFS world's colouring to a more natural blue hue. YMMV.

Thanks to everyone.  I still like my clouds but I won’t look to them for recent fps hit. Crowd source says “look elsewhere”!

I've not had the sense clouds impact the CPU very much, at least relative to GPU, and I'm not seeing any increasein GPU demand it's still coasting along rarely exceeding 60% utilization no matter what the conditions.  SU12 I'm pretty sure has brought in some genuine nastiness I haven't really ever seen and so have no explanation for beyond something done in SU12, and I have a sinking feeling it's not going to improve until MS/A recognizes and addresses it.  No "FPS" issues, just really bizarre and inconsistent SEVERE stuttering upon final in to the arrival airport, even nothing burger arrivals like KROA, and this in the context of major headroom in CPU/GPU/VRAM, so I have no idea where to look.
