Ladies and gents,

So.. ordering a 4090 has put me in a bit of a predicament. I was planning on using my o11 Dynamic case for the new build. But it seems it is lacking the space for the GPU. I have two options. Get another case (don't really want that tbh as I like the case I already have) or mounting it vertically. Thing is, though. What kit would you recommend for the vertical mount.

Another thing that kind of irks me is the fact that the vertical kits seem to cost about half of a new case such as the o11 Dynamic Evo (that should fit the card) making me kind of pondering if I shouldn't just get the darned case and try to sell current build as is with case and all..?

I was in the same conundrum. I really like my O11D as well. The vertical mount prices are silly! I couldn't get a Lian Li mount, so I ended up getting a Cooler Master V3 mount. https://www.coolermaster.com/catalog/cases/accessories/vertical-gpu-holder-kit-v3/

It's a bit chunky, but it works okay. It does have the card sit close to the window though.

I had a brief discussion about those mounts with NickN a few years ago and he strongly discouraged from using one. He also said their was a reason why you couldn't get an extension cord for CPU socket to mount the CPU off the mother board for some exotic cooling. Can't remember his reasons but we all know he knew what he was talking about. I'd get a new case!

Yeah, the prices are insane. That one is exactly half the cost of the Evo.. 😅

Looks good, though.

Yeah, I think I'll go that route as well. Thanks for the input!

As John pointed out the fans sit very close to the side panel, this could possibly restrict optimum air flow.

In my previous build (3090 in a Fractal Design Torrent case) my GPU temps increased by 10 to 15 degrees when I installed the vertical mount so I quickly returned it to the horizontal solution.

Whoa. Nah.. new case it is then.

To be honest, my temps haven't been that bad using MSFS considering the position in the case.
