Float Planes Unsteerable

Featured Replies

I've had this problem as long as I've tried flying float planes--if there's a little wind the plane becomes impossible to steer on the water, even with the water rudders extended. Any fixes out there or any word about when the water physics will be fixed?

I've encountered that as well...not sure of the fix.

Water physics are basically non existent in this sim.  I think the water is only 2 ft deep.  At least p3d and XP have bathymetry.

Never had that problem, works ok here. Probably something wrong with your control assignments.

I found that turning on the "Take-off Auto-Rudder" in the Piloting Assistance menu solves the issue with the uncontrollability of the floatplanes when floating in windy conditions (apparently it takes away all wind effects when on the ground/water).

There is no actual water physics to fix at this point..  Water landings are currently just a fudged version of normal hard surface landings.

That works. It would be best if I didn't have to change assistance settings on the water though. :/

The PC-6, though--even in still air, that will not steer on the water at all.
