ORBX Global Base and TE

Recommended Posts

Does TE need Global base and it's LC components, or does it have it's own?

TrueEarth is standalone. It does not need either of those components for the areas that it covers.

Thanks Christopher.

BTW, I just installed TE GB North. Pretty lush over there!

You can however use both also. This way when you fly out of TE coverage the colors will match closer and still be ORBX base scenery.

I blanketed the entire west coast USA with TE :  WA all the way south to SoCal.  Just awesome. I wish they’d have made more.

This was not my experience in KTVL (Lake Tahoe). A big mismatch? This made me regret buying True Earth since I already had ORBX NorthCal, NA Landclass, Global and practically everything else in the Western US.

Hardware: i7-8700k, GTX 1070-ti, 32GB ram, NVMe/SSD drives with lots of free space.
Software: latest Windows 10 Pro, P3Dv4.5+, FSX Steam, and lots of addons (100+ mostly Orbx stuff).

I agree with you, IMHO Orbx massively failed the transition in this area. I fly a lot in and out of KTVL and I noticed the transition to the northern part of Lake Tahoe is awful. And if there's one place on this planet I love to stare at from above is there ... + most procedures have you fly above the lake.

I wish Orbx had either left Lake Tahoe out completely or extended coverage up to Reno.

Edit actually, I just noticed on the TrueEarth product page that northern Tahoe is covered via TrueEarth Oregon. Oh well ... better late than never. Still I stand my point, should need only one product.

Can I just clarify something here? Are you saying that there is a big mismatch with Lake Tahoe because only part of it is rendered in the TrueEarth Northern California product? Is there a mismatch if TrueEarth Oregon is also installed?

No True Earth Oregon is not installed. The mismatch convinced me that I probably had to buy all TE areas to make them look good, and I was not willing to upgrade my hard disk space again to find out. Buying other TE areas just to see if it fixed that area did not appeal to me.

I have all the TE installed for the West Coast. If you can give me coordinates I could take a screenshot for you.

Thanks, but I already uninstalled PNW Norcal and TE Norcal. 😞
