October 2, 200718 yr I finally decided to test FSX with Supersample antialising through Nvidias nHancer utility and I'm quite impressed. I think it speaks for its self, but it takes a lot of power to run it. Not only does it remove virtually all aliasing, it really sharpens up the image. Most noticeably the writing and red lines. These images are 1:1 crops of the aircraft preview window at 1600x1200, using 4x Supersampling, regular 16x AA, and 2x Supersampling. Even 2xSS looks better in ways yet gives good performance. The second set is 4xSS and 16xAA at 1.25x. http://www.nhancer.com/http://sio.midco.net/FTP4/comparison.jpghttp://sio.midco.net/FTP4/comp2.jpg
October 2, 200718 yr 4x4 works really great in window mode, but in full screen its not playable.4xS seems also very good, little more flickering on trees, but better than the standard AA.
October 2, 200718 yr Unfortunately for me, anything more than 4X AA any type results in extremely stuttery panning. I does look good though, but unfortunately is unusable for me.Gary 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11
October 2, 200718 yr Commercial Member SSAA is an entirely different way of doing AA, which is why you see the textures like the lines on the wings etc get smoothed out as well. Essentially it works by first rendering the image at an extremely high resolution internally within the card and then comparing that with the actual resolution's image to smooth everything out. It's very very nice but it's also very very taxing on performance for all but the absolute top end cards. I find the "8XS" combined mode (which does 4X MSAA and 2X SSAA combined) works best on my 7800GTX. Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com

October 3, 200718 yr Author So I've got this on my BFG 8800 GTS? ___________________________I'm just flying for the fun of it.
October 3, 200718 yr yeah just download nhancer and make your AA selections with that instead, which automatically over rides the driver. With my overclocked 8800 I have enough headroom to run 4xS or 8xS supersampling @ 1600x1200 without seeing a performance hit.It makes for a nice visual upgrade with no performance penalty, if you have the hardware to do. I was thinking ATI already had some supersampling in their driver but I'm not sure.
