May 29, 20233 yr Currently i5 9600k, MSI Z390 gaming plus mobo, DDR4 32gb memory, CM ML240mm AIO, MSI RTX 2060S 8gb gpu. A whole new build of 13th gen 13700k it means new mobo, new aio and new ram which means an additional $1700 cost here. But if i just go for an RTX 4090 with a new i9 9900k it'll save a lot but major concern is the bottlenecking. Mostly flight simming in DCS and MSFS at 1440p and i don't have VR yet but would consider in future. Budget is suitable for both but dont wanna spend extra 2 grands for a mariginal gain. May 30, 20233 yr You could go for a 5800X3D, just needing a new motherboard only, and reusing your ram and AIO like I did. 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11
May 30, 20233 yr Your MB should support a 11gen CPU 11900KF 5.3GHZ Turbo £350 UK, check MSI support and a possible BIOS update. Raymond Fry.
June 3, 20233 yr if you are planning on replacing everything incl. motherboard and RAM, why not get the best performer which is not the latest Intel but AMD 7800x3D + RTX 4090: "a new i9 9900k". new??? "major concern is the bottlenecking." very much so. I just upgraded from a NOT new i9900K to an AMD 7800x3D: frame rates doubled. June 7, 20232 yr My machine i had built 5 years ago was with a 9900k and a 8 gig 2080. Worked very well. Last winter I replaced the GPU with the 20 gig radeon 7900xt. No more running out of video ram. Very pleased with that and the performance. This month I'll be replacing the 9900k with the 7800x3d, mb, 6000 ram. i expect that will work well for several years. A 9900k is going to work pretty good with your proposed video card though I'd suggest going for something more recent with more power if the budget will allow.
