June 11, 20232 yr I start my flight to Maun from Bitterwasser, which is a (gliding) airfield on the edge of the Kalahari region and located about 170 kilometers southeast of Windhoek. The gliding center is considered to be among the best in the world. Numerous world records have been set here due to the good thermal conditions. My accommodation is one of these rondavels. But on closer inspection I would prefer a standard room in the nearby lodge Passing Lake Ngami I decide to leave my planned route, swing north and have a first look at part of the Okavango Delta, before I turn south again for Maun In a few days I will pay the Okavango Delta a longer visit.
