June 14, 20232 yr It seems P3D sim Director has problem with my pc. Today I installed latest driver from NVIDIA. Btw, my specs are: Intel Core i7 9700KF. MSI NVIDIA Geforce RTX 4090 Ventus 24 GB's of VRAM. Asrock Z390 Pro4 Motherboard. Seasonic Prime TX-1300 [1300W] 80+Titanium PSU Team Group T-FORCE DELTA RGB 128 GB's of RAM [4x32GB's] 1TB SSD, 4TB's External HDD. For some weird reason when ever I try to place object in SimDirector the sim crashes. Event viewer shows this error: Faulting application name: Prepar3D.exe, version: 4.5.14.34698, time stamp: 0x5e94b5c2 Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 10.0.19041.3086, time stamp: 0x6349a4f2 Exception code: 0xc0000374 Fault offset: 0x00000000000ff4c9 Faulting process ID: 0x2f94 Faulting application start time: 0x01d99f183b789298 Faulting application path: C:\Prepar3D\Prepar3D.exe Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll Report ID: e2ce0da5-572f-4985-824b-002bf47a5f24 Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID: Yes, I installed all the latest Microsoft Visual packages, plus complete reinstall of graphics driver and P3D repair install. Any help will be appreciated.
June 15, 20232 yr Run system file checker, you have a faulty package running with P3D an addon you are using could be the problem. Raymond Fry.

Deleting the generated files will erase the add-on config information for anything installed outside the ...\Documents\Prepar3D vX Add-ons\ folder, and you'll have to reinstall anything that isn't installed in that generic add-ons folder. In my case that'd cause about 85% of my scenery to vanish. sfc and dism are utilities that check the Windows system files, not your P3D install. A heap corruption problem in ntdll.dll like you're seeing can be lots of things. If a problem starts happening suddenly, especially coming from a big multifunction library like ntdll, first consider what was done to change things recently. So if this started with a new video driver, I'd first approach the problem by reverting back to whatever driver worked before. If you really think you need the new driver, you can try again with a clean install, or by using a utility like DDU with the computer in safe mode to remove all traces of the previous driver. June 15, 20232 yr Author There was this issue on the previous driver as well. The main program works, no issues there, but the SimDirector does not work. DDU? You are sure this will help me? And I do not mind doing the delete generated files, most of my add-on's are on the add-on.xml file method, I use Lorby-si addon organizer. Btw, before the issue I had another one - catalog was not loading, because I had installed a lot of my ORBX True Earth packages, but I did removed them so it can work. Okay, I'll do the DDU thing, hopefully it helps. if not - Delete generated files as the prev. suggestion. I did DDU and NVCleanInstall plus Shadowplay, which I use for recordings. This are the settings I changed: Let's see is this solving my problem, hopefully it is. If not, delete generated files will be in order. It hanged a little, then it crashed again. I am doing Delete Generated files. Hope this helps. If that does not help, well, I am powerless. Edited June 15, 20232 yr by PavlinS wanted to add more information about my current actions.
June 15, 20232 yr Many might say otherwise but as far as I know it's better if you don't set anything in Nvidia Control Panel. Just leave it default. For two decades of simming I have never positively benefited of it. In fact it has been constantly causing issues for me on multiple different sets of PC's and configs. Try to restore it to default and see if that helps. It's just my two cents to your problem 😉 Balint Szarka CPU Intel i9 9900K OC'd to 5Ghz RAM 32GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3000MHz (2 x 16GB) GPU 8GB NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 2070 SUPER
June 15, 20232 yr Author I always put those settings. I never had an issue with them on. I suspect that my problem comes from ORBX. This time I wont turn it on. Let's see. It works, for now. Maybe because I did not changed the simulator settings. Edited June 15, 20232 yr by PavlinS

It works, for now. Maybe because I did not changed the simulator settings. I doubt that ORBX would cause any crashes really. Reason being is that ORBX only changes the textures (talking about Base, OpenLC etc...). Unless it's one of their ObjectFlow modules that might be causing a crash but I doubt that too. Ntdll crashes are usually way too high of settings, excessive overclocking, GPU running high etc. There is a crash to desktop guide somewhere here on avsim detailing ntdll.dll crashes. I don't overclock. You might be right about the settings. I'll lower them down even more, that might even give better performance for me. I think I fixed it. It works from more than an hour, thank you guys for the suggestions. Edited June 15, 20232 yr by PavlinS

June 15, 20232 yr A lot of addons put texture`s in your shader folder deleting tour shader folder can sometime find this, restarting P3D and no crash will confirm this as it rebuilds the default shaders on loading. Raymond Fry.

I've optimized my setup visuallly and get the most out of my GPU via the RDpresets NCP guide, not sure why it would cause isses beyond someones gap in understanding what they are changing. June 20, 20232 yr In what way it impacted my setup I have no clue. However following many YouTube videos back in the days when I thought everyone’s setup for the flight sim was good caused me a lot of headaches.
