Bizarre Longitude problem. With video!

Featured Replies

Hi everyone. Too many people are raving about the Longitude for this to be a common problem, so it's almost gotta be something I'm doing wrong. The thrust reverse is insanely overpowered. We're talking orders of magnitude more reverse thrust than forward thrust. I've made a short video showing the problem (sorry about the weird framing - I was flying in VR):

Reversers commanded at :24 when the nose wheel touched down. I intentionally stayed off the brakes just to show the reverser effect by itself. BTW, I did not disengage at the end there - the engines throttled down by themselves.

Relevant specs: Honeycomb Bravo going through SPAD.neXt.  Thrust reversers are mapped to the throttle reverse detents (buttons 26 and 27) with the commands Send THROTTLE1_DECR-Event and Send THROTTLE2_DECR-Event

What could possibly cause a massive thrust increase in reverse??

Thanks in advance!

Has to be a bug. That's surely not how it should work. Seems like they forgot an upper limit for reverse thrust.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

Nothing wrong with you, that's a problem at min_throttle_limit and reverser_available numbers in engines.cfg.

Is that something I can edit, or is it still locked away for now?

Thanks!

min_throttle_limit= -0.25

reverser_available = 1

It's worth noting that the current values set as defaults will only provide about 50%, which is inaccurate. I am seeing 100% N1 and wondering if there could be any conflicts with the bindings. At this point, I can't help, sorry.

That would be the next step to check for a conflict/double assignment.

It is possible that if the reversers work properly on other airplanes, it could indicate that binding is not the issue. In such a scenario, you may want to try uninstalling the problematic airplane, restarting MSFS, and then reinstalling the airplane. This may resolve any corruption issues that could be causing the problem.

Yeah, it was only the Longitude that did it. Your hint about binding conflicts was the solve. I ended up changing the bindings. Instead of decreasing the throttle while it's held down, it just sets the axis value about 3/4 into the reverse range.

Works pretty good now!

Fabulous! We need to see a new landing video now! Blue skies!
