Carenado C182RG GNS 530

I have the same problem.

All my Carenados use a somehow simplified GNS 530. I have both installed in the Content Manager (the 1.1.4 and the 1.1.7).

When i change "AS530" to "WT530" in the PANEL.CFG, i only see a white screen.

What can i do to use the current WT GNS in my Carenados?

Check that you don't have any old GNS530 mod in your community folder. If you do, remove it.

For those claiming they don't need to make a panel edit, the quickest way to see if you have the more advanced GPS is if upon GPS startup it's doing a RAIM check at startup (there are plenty of images on the internet of what this looks like). If it's not doing it, then it's the simplified GPS.

I didn't make the panel edit and have the version with RAIM check. As said before, there is no need to edit the panel.

Why not use the PMS GTN 750 which is so much easier to use then the 400-500 series, and it will fit right into many aircrafts.

I never had any GNS Mods, only the official WT Updates from the content manager. I dont find the failure.

Carenado C182RG

Carenado C337

Carenado PA28

Carenado PA34

All of them - simple GPS, not the upraded WT ones.

1) Because i want GNS 530 in my Steam Gauge Aircraft.

2) Because i have this nice little hardware gadget https://www.octavi.net/. This lets me use the GNS 530 like im sitting in the cockpit.

I actually use both. The 530 with some liveries, and the 750 with others (and associated hardware for both avionics that I have on my desk by FlightsimBuilder and RealSimGear respectively). There is/was a config on the 182RG release thread that enabled startup by default with the 750 which makes it a pleasure. I've used both systems in real life so I like to alternate between the two depending on what I feel like doing.

Can you type Garmin 530 in the content manager and post a screenshot here, like the one I posted on page 1 of this thread?

Yep, I was the one who posted that config to enable the PMS GTN by default and Bert Pieke posted one to enable the TDS GTN. I use the PMS GTN but just tested the GNS530 and it's the version with RAIM check, with no edit in the panel to change it from AS to WT.

That's odd as I just tested my GPS situation last night and get the simplified without the edit, but whatever works...as long as people are getting the GPS fidelity they expect.

Thanks for that wonderful config edit to enable the GTN by default. I have the variables commented in or out depending on my mood, and it makes things so much easier (especially when trying to manage the pop-out manager with the 750 as well).

Out of curiosity, do you have similar configs for other Carenado aircraft like the PC-12 or Cessna 337? I tried to use similar logic with those but wasn't getting results. Thanks again.

Thanks. Yes, you can use the same in the Carenado 337 and someone told me it works in the PC-12 too, but I don't have it to test. I believe the same edits work for all Carenado aircraft.

As I said, there is no need to edit the panel.cfg. Are you using a default livery?

Try adding this to both runway.flt and apron.flt:

[LocalVars.0]
//TABLET_INIT= 0
CARENADO_GNS430530_HIDDEN=1
CARENADO_GTN750_HIDDEN=0
CARENADO_GTN750XI_HIDDEN=1
CARENADO_GTN750_ENABLED_BUTTON=1
CARENADO_GNS_GTN_VIS=1
AS530_1_HIDDEN=0
AS430_HIDDEN=0
GTN750_INT_HIDDEN=0
GTN750XI_INT_HIDDEN=1
GTN750_INT_1_HIDDEN=0
