737 SOP2 - Probe Covers (counting?)

Featured Replies

Hi.  I'm trying to understand all of the SOP2 flows and checklists.

In the Before Start Checklist (to the line), the 2nd item is "Gear Pins" and the response is "1, 2, 3, removed."
The 3 gear pins are stored at the back of the centre console so I can imagine the Captain reaching back, and touching each in turn as they say it (otherwise why not just say '3 removed').

Given that, are the probe covers in the cockpit as well?
(the response being "1, 2, 3, 4, 5, REMOVED")

It seemed like the Captain was counting as he said it and I couldn't see how.

Thanks.
