Dc6's flight model?
So as I understand it, the basis of the theory is that PMDG used a workaround for xplane whereby they found out how to make xplane's flight model behave like FSX's. Then they could just do what they'd do for FSX. That would be a bit rubbish, but as I understand it PMDG have said that this isn't the case. Great.

Plane jumps up in the air on scenario load
Hi Kyle. 368.22 released 23/5/2016 I had a message in Event Viewer yesterday that "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding" But I've also had xplane crash with the nvidia module shown as the fauling application. Thanks.

Plane jumps up in the air on scenario load
Thanks for the answer Kyle. I'm using HD Mesh v3 and the airport from the download link in the tutorial. My simulator crashed on the flight where I'd entered the flight plan so that might be it. (Seem to be having difficulties related to nvidia causing xplane to crash. I've backed my rendering settings off slightly after setting them to mirror yours when we were talking about lighting, and also made sure my graphics driver was up to date. Hopefully that'll fix it) Thanks for the quick reply above.

Plane jumps up in the air on scenario load
Thanks Kyle. I tried it with and without runway contours on but it happened in both cases. Anyway, I have a plan B now btw, does the flight plan in the GPS get saved as part of the scenario? Thanks

Plane jumps up in the air on scenario load
So I put the plane on 28L at Portland. I click the Scenario 1 button after copying the tutorial file across. The plane jump up in the air about 10 feet and falls back down again. Smoke pours out of the engines. It doesn't always happen but seems to quite frequently. Presumably I'm the only one this is happening to as I haven't seen any other threads on it. Am I doing something silly? Thanks

Just completed tutorial one, Brrriiillliant!
I was just up in the air myself. Smiling a lot. Hadn't bothered with the a/p yet so was just pointing it in the right direction manually.

xcamera definitions for DC6
Hi Onno, that's exactly why I use it as well and matches my experience with it. "If only someone made EzDok for xplane". Its great how you can have as many categories as you like. The virtual walkaround that you can setup is nice as well (define a number of external cameras and have xplane move either manually or automatically between them. I am going to try setting the number keys to show various cameras with the DC6 though. Great addon.

xcamera definitions for DC6
Apologies, I should have made clear that this thread was a request rather than an answer, perhaps by including a question mark in the title. I can't find how to add it now. Anyway, here's my post: Anyone got a nice set of cameras set up for the DC6 that they'd like to share? I've setup a few views but I'm not the best at it. Thanks.

Lights
So I was playing about with plugins and found that if I turned enough off then the lights worked. "Ooo, must be an incompatability....." Disabled xsaitekpanels and it worked. Enabled xsaitekpanels and the lights only work if the Battery Master Switch is On. :Big Grin: I'd assumed that since everything else on the flight deck seemed to be working (on a very rough glance about) that the electrics were on. Presumably they weren't. (I'd pressed Cold & Dark and then Ready to Taxi as above). Happy now, I love aircraft lights and I know that's one thing that PMDG do well here and on other aircraft. Thanks for your help.

System Question
Bit harsh Felipe but for flight simming unfortunately its true. I see the AMD Radeon HD 8650G graphics has no dedicated graphics memory. The minimum recommended in the DC6 manual is 1GB on the graphics card with 4GB recommended. I was away from home with a reasonable laptop for a few years and I appreciate its frustrating. Good luck.

Lights
Lol, okay. I'll add my name to the bottom, sorry for causing trouble. Unfortunately I still have the lighting issue. I have textures Very High, have turned on HDR lighting and set HDR anti-aliasing to FXAA. I've restarted xplane after changing those settings. I click "Cold & Dark" then "Ready for taxi". I click the various lighting preset buttons and I can see the rotaries move. But there doesn't seem to be any lighting (I've tried it at xplane's twilight time of day). I downloaded soon after it was released and I gather there's been at least 1 update since that time (adding the scenario file) so I'll re-download in case anything else has changed. Should my sequence of clicks above have produced working lights or did I need to get the FE to do something first? I'm using 64 bit xplane on Steam. I'm using Windows 10. My graphics card is a GTX780. Thanks.

See now I've changed my display name by mistake and am not allowed to change it again for 6 months. I hadn't realised that this was an official PMDG forum though sorry. I just wondered if anyone knew why my lights didn't work. Thanks to Felipe for what will presumably resolve this for me. Thanks to PMDG for coming to xplane. I bought the DC6 within a couple of minutes of seeing that it was out and am looking forward to getting to know it a lot better.
