July 22, 20232 yr A short flight from Stapleford Abbots, EGSG, up over Stansted and on to finish at Rayne Hall Farm, EG83. I used an old DH60 Gipsy Moth which is an FSX conversion and has no cockpit to speak of, in that none of the dials or instruments converted ok. But that's not much of an issue with a plane that is barely faster than a bicycle anyway. This is a three part post, and this fiirst part is really an exploration of Orbx's EGSG. I seem to remember this came out in P3D days and is a portover by them. Prime stuff in its day, still not bad looking today. Airport security? And off we go Stapleford Abbots is not far north of the city, as you can see here with the vaguely recognisable London skyline behind us. Docklands on the left, City to the right. The second part will take us over Stansted, and on to another small strip where some interesting (and unexplained) things seem to be happening! Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used

Lovely tour series, Andy, and more importantly I see the Gipsy Moth...in MSFS...been a serious fan of (Sir) Geoffrey de Havilland from my beginning days of the hobby ....🙂.... We sometimes forget that de Havilland may have been an Engineer by profession, but he was also a serious entomologist by interest..."It suddenly struck me that the name Moth was just right."... "...barely faster than a bicycle...." is a good analogy of yours here...🙂 ...but of course the world's first commercial jetliner The Comet...was from the same pedigree... Hope someone creates a nice Gypsy Moth for MSFS... yes, I recall flying that Gypsy Moth (Golden Age Simulations?) a lot...not sure if that's the one you're flying here... Thanks for sharing this 3-part series with Low and Slow de Havilland at its best ...!!

I've got a few fine books on the various products of that company, and they certainly did some gems. You mentioned the Comet, and I'd totally rush to buy both Comets (DH106 and DH88) as they are both high on my favourites list. And I just checked - that was the GAS Gypsy Moth. Glad you enjoyed the adventure!
