August 1, 20232 yr A common question. Running my trusty 1080ti with P3Dv5.4 settings mostly to the right, the performance is great. However, some airports sceneries, if you stay too long crash with lack of memory. The RTX 3090 certainly has the memory at 24gb, but is the performance good as well. The current second hand market is about £600 up. Is it worth it? Opinions greatfully received.
August 1, 20232 yr IIt's actually not a straightforward matter. Several other factors need to be considered such as CPU, MOBO, memory, PSU, monitor, DPI or HDMI, and cooling. Your current PC configuration might even result in subpar performance. We require more details regarding the computer parts to provide an accurate assessment. It's not just plugging parts, there is always a strong possibility of any sort of incompatibility leading to a bottleneck situation. https://buildmypc.net/ https://pangoly.com/en/pc-builder https://dev.to/5unnykum4r/how-to-check-the-compatibility-of-pc-parts-2ck7 Edited August 1, 20232 yr by LRBS 747 Captain for the last 39 years, and still learning.
August 1, 20232 yr The 3090 will solve your VRAM OOM issue and will outperform your 1080Ti by a sizeable margin with GPU-intensive tasks, such as rendering clouds and shadows. It will be a a significant overmatch for the 7700K, so you won't get to utilize all the potential of the 3090, but it should not present any compatibility issues. You *do* need a good PSU--850W minimum.
