August 11, 20232 yr Wednesday of last week about 530AM about a mile from my home in Easley South Caroline a young 22-year-old officer of the Easley P.D. was struggling with a suicidal woman on the railroad tracks in front of an oncoming train. I'm not sure exactly what transpired but somehow, he managed to save her but was run over himself. Officer Hare was unmarried, raised by a single Mother and had a younger brother. He was a football player for Easley High School, graduated in 2019 and wisely completed electrician school as a backup before entering law enforcement completed training at the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy and had just completed his cadet training with E.P.D. Such a short yet meaningful life. His very dignified funeral was last Tuesday with a great crowd of police and firemen from around the state. His Mother was presented a flag by our state Governer. There was a missing man helicopter fly over and the final dispatch call issued. Now we all live in the real world and know there are some carrying a badge who defiantly should not be. But to me, the moral fiber and selfless courage that brings someone to sacrifice their own life to save someone so determined to destroy their self that they're violently resisting transcends human understanding. Rest Easy Officer Hare and may God comfort his family. Vic green
