Does undervolting help performance at all?  My temps run a little high even with water cooling (usually high 60s in heavy areas but less otherwise) but nowhere near what would be considered bad.  If i can squeeze some performance out of it I may try but otherwise not sure I want to mess with it.

Yes, it can.

Think of it as a reverse overclock, you're trying to get your CPU to run as fast as possible at the lowest possible voltage without crashing. Instead of trying to increase the voltage and the CPU clock speed. Undervolting you are telling the CPU to try and run at whatever setting it is with limited voltage. This will produce less heat and less heat means it can run at the higher speeds longer. If you get a really good chip, you could undervolt and even OC a bit. Get the highest clock possible, at the lowest voltage possible is the name of the game.

I'm finding performance gains by undervolting very small (I can't see a difference but have not tested so maybe it is there). But temperature reduction quite large, about 10 degrees in my case. Reading tells me most people only see maybe 5 degrees reduction.

Finally got around to trying this and my temps went from mid 70s to high 50s/low 60s.  A pretty significant reduction.  My cinnebench score went up a few hundred points so I'm sure there's a small performance gain in there somewhere as well.  Using -30.  Haven't tried anything beyond that yet but things are stable so far.
