There is some great information in this thread so I am keeping it but I strongly suggest that if anyone has any issues with their Fulcrum product then please get in touch via [email protected] first. We can supply correct parts and advice to help diagnose and fix your product.

Many thanks to @SergeyPe for compiling this during my absence. He is not involved with Fulcrum in any way and yet went out of his way to help others. As a customer he has always been loyal and supportive during the development and was one of the first to order a yoke.

Fulcrum Replacement Parts

I have googled C&K 8125SHZ and the closest I come up with is C&K 8125SHZBE from mouser and digikey.

Thus my question....

If you check the datasheet on either Mouser or Digikey website you'll see that the two letters after 8125SHZ mean the contact material (gold or gold over silver- doesn't matter) and the contact seal type (epoxy or epoxy potted base- doesn't matter either).

Thanks

I replaced the broken button switch in my fulcrum yoke.

As an FYI, the digikey C&K 8125SHZ is not quite the same.
It has a slightly shorter throw and does not have the same satisfying click.

The body of the new switch is not as tall as the original, which I think affects the length of the throw.

The shaft is slightly longer and the black cap does not slide down on it as far which causes the top of the replaced button cap to be slightly above the adjacent button.

It works but is not exactly the same switch and does not have the same feel.

In 8020 series datasheet there is no specification for the plunger travel/ actuation force/ tactile "click". So there's no way to tell if the different production versions/ batches are the same in this respect.

Again, in a datasheet there is just one version of 8125 switch body dimensions, which exactly fits the size of the switches on my yoke.

For the "H"-type bushing (6,35 mm- long thread, no keyway) and "Z"- type termination (solder lugs) the "S"-type plunger length should be 5,54 mm. I can't check it on my unit as the caps are glued down; but this is probably the smallest issue- the plunger is made of a relatively soft plastic, so it can be easily trimmed down to the length required.

BTW, in this thread Ray Proudfoot tells about his experience of a stuck button replacement; he also ordered the switches from DigiKey. I wonder if he had any similar issues- at least he didn't mention any...

Once again, a general reminder- all the recommendations provided are based on my sample of Fulcrum, which (I assume) belongs to one of the fairly early production batches. I have no information about the further possible changes in the part types used.

There are at least two differences with my unit.
Caps are not glued down, and the wires soldered on the switches do not have shrink wrap like shown in the photos.

The heat-shrink wrapping and gluing the buttons both increase the production costs and make the button replacement more difficult. No surprise that these were skipped during the production optimization...

When Chris arrived he decided to replace both button switches on the right side. They have a slightly different feel but are fine. The components from the US arrived four days after ordering them and are of a high quality.
