November 13, 20232 yr Dear members, hello to everyone. I'm having an interesting problem and I couldn't find a solution. I have Active Sky for P3Dv4. However, I no longer use P3D and have been uses on MSFS for a while. I want to use the Active Sky Program for Simbrief and informational purposes only. I would like to tell you step by step about an important problem that I cannot solve... - I am running the Active Sky program. (P3D is off and working smoothly) - I'm running P3D (Connect and works smoothly) - I exit P3D (Disconnect occurs and it works without any problems) - Then I run MSFS. (The problem starts at this stage) - ActiveSky detects MSFS and connects ( P3D is disabled ) - When MSFS is active.. I run ActiveSky (P3D connects! and the program gives a warning and closes). Why does Active Sky detect MSFS??? How can I solve this problem? Note: P3D and ASP3Dv4 are installed on (E) disk.. This problem destroyed my joy of life 🙂 Thanks for the help. Cenk. I am sorry. I failed to upload a photo. I am sharing the link of the photo.https://hizliresim.com/s80f41q
November 13, 20232 yr ActiveSky probably does not detect MSFS but it might detect Simconnect or FSUIPC and then tries to connect to MSFS which won't work. If activesky uses FSUIPC you could uninstall FSUIPC for MSFS or disallow it to start if you want to use ActiveSky. If it is using Simconnect then you might be able to rename the simconnnect support files in the ActiveSky Program Folder in order to disable them. If they are built-in than you might be out of luck. Does ActiveSky has a auto-connect option? try to disable that. November 13, 20232 yr ASP3D uses Simconnect, which is an integral part of both P3D and MSFS, so any time MSFS is running on that same machine, Simconnect is going to be active and answer ASP3D's calls, identifying it as an incompatible host. I suppose it'd be possible to block ActiveSky from using port 500 in your firewall configuration to prevent it from connecting to MSFS. If you have an old PC or laptop, you could run it on that other machine. Or, if you have ActiveSky for XPlane, it doesn't use Simconnect, so it will run concurrently with MSFS as well. I use my ASXP program in much the same manner as you describe (for current wx/METAR info) when i'm running MSFS, as I also have XPlane and ASXP on that same machine. November 13, 20232 yr Weather and METAR are available outside of MSFS, but I don't see them updating at the same time/rate, so what use are they? I use LNM, SimBrief and MSFS' METAR viewer when in range otherwise what use is it if the 3rd party METAR isn't what MSFS is currently manifesting? I even changed the filenames suggested by Orkestra_nl. However, the problem persists. I couldn't prevent MSFS from seeing AS_P3Dv4. Unfortunately, I am not a high-level computer user. So I didn't know how to do this. "I suppose it'd be possible to block ActiveSky from using port 500 in your firewall configuration to prevent it from connecting to MSFS." ... How can I do that? I am using ESET NOD32 Cenk Edited November 14, 20232 yr by Cenk
November 14, 20232 yr First, NOD32 is your antivirus, not your firewall. I think you need to set up custom inbound and outbound rules in the Windows Defender Firewall to block AS_P3Dv4 from sending and/or receiving TCP traffic on local port 500, which should prevent it from connecting to Simconnect, which uses port 500 by default. That's my theoretical solution to your problem, not something I've ever tried, so you're going to need to do some Google-Fu to learn about configuring the firewall and then do some tinkering with the settings. And...when you're done you'll be a higher-level computer user than when you started. I've done everything necessary on the firewall. But it's impossible. I was unsuccessful in preventing MSFS from seeing AS_P3Dv4. I don't want to waste any more time for now. But as you said, my computer experience has improved. 😁 Thanks for everything.
November 21, 20232 yr If I may ask, why are you even bothering with this problem when the information you need is available on (probably) multiple other MSFS compatible sources - or even weather sources independent of sim platforms (Windy) Edited November 21, 20232 yr by ErichB

Hello Erich, You're basically right, as is Noel. There are many platforms where I can get METAR data. IT'S just a habit. I used ActiveSky in FSX and P3D for a long time. When you upload the flight plan, it creates a detailed Briefing page for you. Anyway, I gave up on that anyway. Example;https://hizliresim.com/8hq9z9p Cenk
