Reminiscing - San Francisco to Santa Barbara...

Featured Replies

Being a Midwesterner, though, I've travelled to the major cities on the West Coast many times, my time spent outside, so to speak, under the open sky, to enjoy the beautiful geographical features of California has been minimal, except for one occasion. During one of the trips to San Francisco, having rented a vehicle in the KSFO Terminal, I had headed straight out to the (famous) U.S. Highway 1, with the objective of going as far south as I could go...time permitting. I now recall that I'd made it down to Santa Barbara, about 325 miles south along the California coastlines.ย

The Pacific Coast Highway, U.S. Highway 1, skirts the gorgeous coastline, winding past (seemingly dangerous) rocky overhangs and cliffs, to offer spectacular views that'll mandate any driver to be fully attentive on the road (But yours truly, after all, is an experienced driver of the (equally challenging) Rocky Mountain Scenic Road...๐Ÿ™‚...if you wish, please see my post "Xbox (787) Aviator over the Rockies..."...and the comments therein...) ...

Anyway, along this trip, among the many (memorable) highlights and scenic diversions off the Highway, including the golden beaches (Half Moon Bay comes to mind) and the (picturesque) hills and mountains (see images below), I also recall visits to a couple of Wineries of the Monterey County and Wine Tasting Sessions in the Vineyards...thoughย myself not really a Wine connoisseur...in the sense of following proper etiquettes of Wine Tasting (which was quite apparent to my seasoned companions)...๐Ÿ™‚...Oh well...

Today, I have flown along the same coastlines, from KSFO to KSBA, for a different perspective and an aerial appreciation of this beautiful region. My route has occasionally crossed into the Pacific Ocean, with the flight terminating in Santa Barbara Municipal Airport. This Airport is just a few miles from the coastline, and if one approaches its (eastward) Runway 07 (as I've done, here), then one is flying for a bit directly over the waters of the Pacific Ocean... (please see my concluding images) ...

Hope you enjoy these images. Thanks for viewing and good flights...!!

Isnยดt it a great pleasure to repeat real-life travels in the sim and get good memories from that?
