Lufthansa Cargo Boeing 747-8 over (Mount) Denali...

Featured Replies

OK...the scenario I've hypothesized for my post, here, in my right as the virtual (make-believe) Pilot-in-Command of the Jumbo 747-8...🙂..., is not completely preposterous. After all, there are non-stop (direct) flights from Germany to the West Coast of U.S. (and possibly Alaska). I was checking a bit, just now...e.g., a Condor Flight 2032, is en-route, as I write this, from EDDF (Frankfurt), already in the air for ~10 hours, and will be arriving shortly, in another 30 minutes or so, at (KSEA) Seattle-Tacoma Airport.

So, here we go, please find 20 pictures of my (symbolic) flight, within Alaska, from takeoff to touchdown, in the colors of a Boeing 747-8 (Lufthansa) Cargo, from PANC (Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport) to PAFA (Fairbanks International Airport). Of Cargo liveries, there is a simplicity and pragmatic appearance, as opposed to (the more fanciful) Pax liveries, that, I always find fascinating...Anyway, as part of my FlightPlan, here, I've done bit of a detour (self-authorized and, of course, not approved by regulators...🙂...) by specifying a (custom) User Waypoint, on the FMC, with the LAT/LONG Co-ordinates (63.0692N/151.0070W) of Denali, the highest mountain peak in North America, formerly known as "Mount McKinley", but renamed more recently as "Denali", by which name it has been known by the locals, for centuries. You will see Denali as the first defined Waypoint (N63W151) in my (Flightdeck) ND Display below (see e.g. the close-up shot #8). Please also note, in my (external view) pictures below, how the plane, under the full control of LNAV/VNAV guidance, turns right overhead of Mount Denali towards my destination, Fairbanks.

Hope you enjoy these pictures, from my virtual world, of the 747-8, in the Lufthansa Cargo colors, travelling across the (seemingly desolate) snowy mountains and the majestic glaciers of Alaska, and finally touching down on (PAFA) ILS Runway 02L, as the golden Sun, is setting, behind me, in the Alaskan sky.

Thanks for viewing...!

Beautiful!

(although that fourth shot threw me at first, I thought you were upside down for a moment - didn't seem like your sort of thing to go in for that sort of weirdness!)

Thank you, pmplayer. There is limited supply of 747-8 liveries on Xbox, but any cargo colors of the Queen, with predominance of White (such as this one), meets my criteria...🙂...thought you might like this livery...🙂...

Glad you liked, Andy. Yes, that (bit of a peculiar) shot was, as I recall, just when LNAV was activated after liftoff...The PANC Runway appearing above the plane, probably threw you off...The a/c is just turning/banking for Denali...above these nearby bodies of water .... (upside-down jet days are over me, at least, in public...🙂...)

I like that 1st shot, nice and simple, and yet..

All my FSX/P3D repaints are here on Avsim, for my MSFS repaints, go to FS.2

Absolutely brilliant shots, P_7878 !!

Any attempt to stretch fuel is guaranteed to increase headwinds

My specs: AMD Radeon RX6700XT, AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, 32GB RAM, 34" monitor, screen resolution: 2560x1080
