Wales to England - Swansea to Southampton...

Featured Replies

Here is a most delightful and soothing flight I took today in my (MSFS) virtual world... (who needs mountains...🙂...) ...from South Wales to Southwest England, across some of the most spectacular scenery I've seen in the SIM. As soon as I took off, the beautiful coastlines of Bristol Channel greeted me and held my interest, until I flew inland towards Cardiff. Then I crossed the Bristol Channel (and the "Wales-England" border) at the magnificent Severn Estuary (mouth of the Severn) heading further east towards the famous British (harbor) city of Bristol. I flew overhead of both the airports of EGFF (Cardiff) and (EGGD) Bristol (see images below).

Throughout my trip, my steady 5,000 ft altitude helped me appreciate the beauty of not only the pristine shorelines, but also these rural regions filled with picturesque meadows, moors, rolling hills, sparkling streams and rivers etc. and the landscape dotted with villages and hamlets...Maybe that's why the English countryside is considered both special and unique in English life and culture.

Finally, I've set my Garmin for a [DIR-To] ...🙂...towards the Final Approach Fix (FAF) for (EGHI) Southampton Airport's ILS 20 Runway for a smooth landing (see images below) ...Of course, the competent and sharp-looking DA62 never fails me been always one of my favorite touring aircraft in MSFS...

Hope you enjoy this collection of images from my trip. Thanks for viewing.

Nice series, but what's spectacular about the landscape?

All my FSX/P3D repaints are here on Avsim, for my MSFS repaints, go to FS.2

Lovely jaunt through the countryside.

Great shots! 😉

Thank you, folks, for the remarks and comments...!!

[Jan: After living in the flatlands of the Midwest for decades, sometimes, when I catch sight of the blood-red sunset around here, in winter, that scenery amazes me...🙂...With coastlines and such, the above places in RW must be really pretty if not spectacular...]

Lovely trip, P_7878. For me the best plane to enjoy the English countryside would be the Spitfire. 🙂

Any attempt to stretch fuel is guaranteed to increase headwinds
