Plan-G

Featured Replies

Downloaded the 4.2.6.297 version and installed it.

It is working in MSFS2024 for a part. I can connect it with MSFS2024 and get a map of where I am located.

For that I had to link Plan-G with MSFS2024 (Files - Options - MSFS content Path --> SteamLibary\steamapps\common\Limitless).

Problem is the info on the map. Only Open Street Map but no navigation info like airports, VOR, NDB ILS, etc. etc.

Probably have to give the MSFS Airport LocPak and MSFS Aircraft LocPak.

Any one has any idea where I can find these info in MSFS2024 so I can link MSFS2024 and Plan-G ?

Stumbled across this post by configuring Plan-G for MSFS 2020 (it works with P3D V4.5 since years).

As I cannot see any news on their website - most of the links incomplete and lead back to the website itself, in facebook no reply newer than 24 weeks, I don't think, my MSFS 2020 database load problem will be solved.

Talking about Plan-G 4.2.6.297 and in my case MSFS 2020 Steam installation, I found the "MSFS Content Folder" via AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\UserCfg.opt -> last line in this file states the Plan-G mentioned "content folder": MSFS Content Path: C:\Games\MSFS2020\Packages

But entering this path in Plan-G, it crashes while searching the airports, logfile Documents\Plan-Gv4 Files\Plan-Gv4_Log.txt tells me
12:51:55.2 C:\Games\MSFS2020\Packages\Official\Steam\fs-base-genericairports\scenery\0601\APX50130.bgl: Apts: 187
12:51:56.0 Error reading file: Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown.
12:51:56.0 Apt: EDKQ TT:AIRPORTEK.EDKQ.name Id: 0xd0 prev: 0xd0

Restricting the "Content Folder" to subdirectory C:\Games\MSFS2020\Packages\Community , I get only a subset of the airports.

@Alex voor Plan-G : I don't think it's related to the airport locpak - as I have to select a specific .locpak file, not a folder.

@doudou : in Little Navmap, it's possible to change the map to "OpenStreetMap" or "OpenTopoMap", but it's hidden in View -> Theme (I use OpenTopoMap in Plan-G too because of it's contour lines).

I am building a utility that users the PlanG *.pln file. However, this file does NOT include airport names, only the ICAO codes.
I researched Little Nav Map, and that is the same.
I NEED these name for my project, does anybody know how to extract them?
Thanks....

Hello All,

I hope I'm not Hi-Jacking this Thread (I'm something of a Computer Numpty) so apologise if that is the case. However, I came across this Thread whilst looking for information on Plan-G Map/Planning Software. I saw some of the earlier Posts here.  I just wanted to say what a BRILLIANT piece of Software that Plan-G has been for me.  I came late to Mapping in my Flight Simming (albeit I've been Simming since Sub-logic days - and Flying decades before that 🙂  )  and it opened lots of new opportunities!  Also, this  is Freeware (and I've not even been able to find anywhere I can 'Donate' to the producers)   -  is great Software with a very good Manual - I probably couldn't have got it running without that 🙂

I don't know if Tim Arnot is still operating - I did find an email address and sent him a 'Thank You' note - but thought the very least I could do was thank him and his Team Publicly for a great job and all their efforts and generosity.

If anyone has further information of T.A. Software or the team etc. I'd be grateful.

Kind Regards,

Blue
