January 17, 20242 yr Hello, Does the Reality XP GTN 750 work with the RealAir Simulations (RAS) Lancair Legacy? I have the Flight 1 GTN 750 running in P3D v5 on the Lancair Legacy but have upgraded to P3D v6.1 and it does not work there -- the RealAir Legacy does. So, the second question is, if the RXP GTN 750 does work with the RealAir Legacy, does it work in P3D v6.1? Oh, the 3rd question is, if it does work with the RealAir Legacy, does it connect to the autopilot? If it works with the RealAir Legacy in v6.1 and connects to the autopilot, I'll buy right away... Thanks! Valin Edited January 17, 20242 yr by ValinHawK
January 18, 20242 yr Author Since this forum category serves as the official technical support for Reality XP... It looks like the answers to my questions are currently unknown as of 18 Jan 2024. If I purchase the Reality XP GTN 750 for my RealAir Lancair Legacy in P3D v6.1, if it does not work, may I receive a refund? Of course, I'll report the results of my testing on this forum topic so others with this question can purchase with confidence... Edited January 18, 20242 yr by ValinHawK Improve readability
January 19, 20242 yr I just check my RXP Updater and it shows the app was updated to version 2.7.8 for P3D v6.1.9 (P3D v6.1 Patch 1). The update date is shown as "JAN2024". The seller of RXP products (Flight1) recently ended their decades-old 30 Day Refund policy in favor of the infamous "All Sales Are Final" policy.😡
January 19, 20242 yr Author Thanks, Low N Slow! Based on your AvSim avatar, I'd guess you're actually Low N Fast... 🙂
January 19, 20242 yr Welcome to Avsim!! I missed your "new member" post count earlier.🙄 I used to shoot the races for a local newspaper. Back to business... sorry that I can't help you much more with P3D V6. I'm still on 5.3HF2. All I can say for sure is that after 5 years of RXP GTN updates for P3D, they all worked fine for me including the autopilot. And that update I mentioned above is indeed new... I checked my updater last week and it showed 2.7.7 from last month. Hopefully a member flying the GTN's in V6 will be along to assist you.👍
January 21, 20242 yr Author The RealityXP GTN 750 works!!!! I'm really impressed by the developer of the RealityXP GTN 750. I really did not expect it to be able to replace the Flight1 GTN 750 running in my RealAir Lancair Legacy in P3D v5 but it does! The Flight1 GTN 750 would not even run in my Lancair Legacy in P3D v6 at all so I really did not expect the RealityXP GTN 750 to work -- but it does...!!!! It is also very nice to have the latest software and nav data available with the latest Garmin PC Trainers. I've only noticed two anomalies amongst the thousands of things working perfectly. In the panel, the GTN 750 is in the correct place but it does not have the correct shape -- it's too narrow, distorted. I work with the GTN 750 in a separate window so it doesn't affect my using it too much -- but the panel looks funny. I'll attach a screenshot. For my separate window for the GTN 750, one cannot pan the map around by touching the display. The GTN 750 in the instrument panel allows it. For the separate window, when one left click holds to pan the map, the entire window moves. Congratulations to the developer(s) of RealityXP for their Garmin GTN 750! (BTW, for AvSim, I've tried several times, including on other posts, to insert an image from a URL and it does not work for me. Is there some secret I need to know or is this feature just disabled...?)
January 21, 20242 yr Author I finally was able to get a photo URL to be accepted by the forum software. See how the RealityXP GTN 750 in the panel does not have the correct shape...

See how the RealityXP GTN 750 in the panel does not have the correct shape... It's a bit hard to tell but it looks like you've a bezel within a bezel. Typically you'd install the embeded GTN without a bezel so as to take up the full space available within the F1 bezel. in my config I've also adjusted the brightness of the embeded gauge, included the option to pop the screen with a right click on it, as well as adding an additional control gauge to enable the F1 bezel controls and buttons to function with the RXP unit. I can help you with those if you desire. February 14, 20242 yr Author Thank you, Rogen! I just now saw your reply -- I need to adjust AvSim's notifications. I could use some help with this and a new problem. I don't remember seeing a setting where I could install without the bezels so in the RealityXP.GTN.ini file I edited the No Bezels parameter to True. Now it fills the bezel in the panel properly but the bezel buttons do not work. And, the window for the GTN 750 which I like to put on a second screen does not have bezels so I cannot use the bezel buttons and I cannot Undock It to move it to my second screen. My biggest problem, is after a repaint of my RAS Legacy, after reconfiguring/installing the RXP GTN, the autopilot no longer connects to the GTN. Here is what the log file shows: 24/02/14 13:31:24.964 37760 - ] # rxpGTN.dll version 2.7.8.0 24/02/14 13:31:24.964 37760 INFO ] 24/02/14 13:31:59.413 37760 WARN ] Autopilot not supported on this platform (vers: 6.1.10.31609) 24/02/14 13:31:26.405 37760 - ] # rxpGtnSim64.dll version 2.6.0.0 24/02/14 13:31:26.404 37760 INFO ] 24/02/14 13:31:59.531 52356 INFO ] GTN 750.1 - TRAINER 6624 Any help would be most appreciated! February 14, 20242 yr Hi ValinHawk, read your PM. A GTN update is going to be needed to resolve the message of "Autopilot not supported on this platform (vers: 6.1.10.31609) ", just going to have to wait or rollback to a supported version of P3D. Personally I'm running v4.5.14 as my evaluation of v5 and above did not tick enough of the boxes I required for upgrade (actually would have been more of a downgrade for myself). As to the Bezels, when you're initially installing the GTN using the RXP tool, it should have 2 x instances of the F1 GTN found, being the popout and the embedded. The RXP tool has a cross (+) under the choices (on the RHS), which if dropped down will show a checkbox to be ticked for "no bezel". If you've already installed without the no bezel option, a change can be made directly in the panel.cfg file for the embeded GTN only. e.g. the below is a snip from the panel.cfg file where the no bezel option has been added for the embedded GTN only. // =============================================================================== // IMPORTANT - 'gauge19'. 'gauge20, 'gauge21', and 'gauge22' BELOW CAN BE OVERWRITTEN // BY THE CONFIG PANEL. PLEASE KEEP THIS IN MIND WHEN MANUALLY EDITING THIS FILE // IF YOU WANT TO CHANGE THE GPS ENTRIES AND DON'T WANT THEM OVERWRITTEN IN ANY // CIRCUMSTANCE THEN CHANGE THE GAUGE NUMBERS. EG - CHANGE 'gauge 19' TO 'gauge22' // =============================================================================== //gauge19=F1GTN!GTN750VC, 2,563,390,460,UNIT1 //This is the original F1 entry commented out. gauge19=rxpGTN!GTN_750_1, 2,563,390,460,NO_BEZEL //This is the RXP entry with the NO_BEZEL option enabled. I also have a custom gauge written to bridge the controls of the embedded F1 bezel to the RXP unit. To use will require panel config editing as well as installing a custom gauge, you up for it ? Anyway... There is a new line required in the panel.cfg. gauge26=RASLegacy!F1VC, 0, 0, 1, 1 // Bridges the controls from the F1 GTN750 to the RXP GTN750. Comment if using the F1 GTN750. in the panel folder (\SimObjects\Airplanes\RealAir Legacy V2\Panel) there is a "RASLegacy.CAB", extract the cab file out to a folder using something like 7-zip or Windows, the folder name should be "RASLegacy". Then rename the "RASLegacy.CAB" to "RASLegacy.CAB.orig". In the spolier below I've pasted the xml gauge text. Spoiler <Gauge Name="F1VC" Version="2.05"> <!-- Reality XP GTN Buttons Bridge --> <!-- Bridges Reality XP GTN 750/650 Touch with f1 3D bezel --> <!-- Credits: Reality XP, Sean Moloney and Ryan Butterworth, Bert Pieké --> <Comment> These 4 numbers configure how to connect the virtual cockpit GTN model (type+unit) to the RXP GTN unit number. They are set in a specific order, respectively to the following 3D models: 652, 651, 752, 751. Use 0 to map the corresponding device to the RXP GTN #1, use 8 to map to the RXP GTN #2. It reads like this: code = 8080 3D model | 652 | 651 | 752 | 751 | map to RXP | 8 | 0 | 8 | 0 | |(unit2)|(unit1)|(unit2)|(unit1)| Other Examples: 3D panel using 651 and 652: 8 0 8 0 3D panel using 751 and 752: 8 0 8 0 3D panel using 751 and 651: 8 8 0 0 7) Example with the MilViz DHC3: this aircraft panel.cfg virtual cockpit sections are: [Vcockpit20] ... gauge00=F1GTN!GTN750VC, 0,0,677,794,UNIT1 [Vcockpit21] ... gauge00=F1GTN!GTN650VC, 0,0,677,297,UNIT1 The virtual cockpit uses the 751 and the 651 (type+unit). Therefore, the code must tell to map the 751 to RXP unit1, and the 651 to RXP unit2. Using the column view above, this gives: code = 8800 3D model | 652 | 651 | 752 | 751 | map to RXP | 8 | 8 | 0 | 0 | |(unit2)|(unit2)|(unit1)|(unit1)| Change the panel.cfg virtual cockpit sections to: [Vcockpit20] ... gauge00=rxpGTN!GTN_750_1, 0,0,677,794,NO_BEZEL gauge01=rxpGTN!f1vc,0,0,1,1 [Vcockpit21] ... gauge00=rxpGTN!GTN_650_2, 0,0,677,297,NO_BEZEL Change f1vc.xml line 17 to: <!-- map F1 model to RXP GTN unit --> <!-- use: 8 0 8 0 for 652=unit2, 651=unit1, 752=unit2, 751=unit1 --> <!-- use: 8 8 0 0 for 652=unit2, 651=unit2, 752=unit1, 751=unit1 --> 8 8 0 0 </Comment> <Element> <Select> <Value> (L:F1GTNMOUSE,bool) 0 != if{ (L:F1GTNMOUSE,bool) 0x0001FA01 - sp0 l0 28 / int sp1 l0 28 % sp0 <!-- map F1 model to RXP GTN unit --> <!-- use: 8 0 8 0 for 652=unit2, 651=unit1, 752=unit2, 751=unit1 --> <!-- use: 8 8 0 0 for 652=unit2, 651=unit2, 752=unit1, 751=unit1 --> 8 8 0 0 4 l1 case 4 2 l0 1 & ? + sp1 l0 0 == l0 1 == or if{ l1 (>K:GPS_MENU_BUTTON) } l0 2 == l0 3 == or if{ l1 (>K:GPS_DIRECTTO_BUTTON) } l0 4 == l0 10 == or if{ l1 8 & (>K:GPS_BUTTON2) } l0 6 == l0 11 == or if{ l1 8 & (>K:GPS_BUTTON3) } l0 8 == l0 9 == or if{ l1 (>K:GPS_BUTTON1) } l0 12 == l0 18 == or if{ l1 8 & (>K:GPS_GROUP_KNOB_DEC) } l0 14 == l0 19 == or if{ l1 8 & (>K:GPS_GROUP_KNOB_INC) } l0 20 == l0 26 == or if{ l1 8 & (>K:GPS_PAGE_KNOB_DEC) } l0 22 == l0 27 == or if{ l1 8 & (>K:GPS_PAGE_KNOB_INC) } l0 24 == l0 25 == or if{ l1 (>K:GPS_CURSOR_BUTTON) } l0 16 == l0 17 == or if{ l1 (>K:GPS_CURSOR_BUTTON) } 0 (>L:F1GTNMOUSE,bool) } </Value> </Select> </Element> </Gauge> Create a text file named "F1VC" in the Panel\RASLegacy folder. Copy and paste all the spoiler text into the "F1VC" text file and save and close. Change the .txt extension to .xml, if the .txt extension is not visible you'll need to enable the viewing of "file name extensions" from the Windows Explorer ribbon. That's it. When you restart P3D and load the Legacy, the embedded GTN buttons will work and send commands to the RXP GTN, note you'll need to double click the buttons. The popup GTN should open with the RXP bezel in place and thus is really the better option for control of the GTN. For the "RealityXP.GTN.ini" I've found the following values of use. OwnshipIcon = KIT_PLANE popright = 14401 brightness.bezel = 100 The spoiler below contains my values for the "RealityXP.GTN.ini" which you might find of reference. February 15, 20242 yr Author Thank you, Rogen - that's amazing! I won't be able to work on it until tomorrow and I'll let you know how it goes. The RAS Lancair Legacy is the only RAS aircraft I have. I know the others are outstanding and I wish RealAir Simulations was still operating. Sean from RAS created a Diamond Twin under his new company named Virtex Simulations but he hasn't been seen or reachable for a long time now. People speculate the website is just running on "autopilot". For the RAS Legacy, I have a custom livery to match the real world Lancair Legacy my wife and I built and customized. I'm working with FlySimWare to create our airplane, we call STARHAWK, in MSFS 2020/24. The development has been slowed by a complicated Lear 35 in their pipeline and probably won't release until later this year. I'm very impressed by the clouds in your screenshot! Which sim and/or 3rd party improvements helped create them? Thanks again, Rogen!

Np, happy to hear how you get on. As to the other RealAir aircraft, you can download them and I would do so while they are still around, Sean made them compatible with P3D v4.5 (and installable) post the RealAir partnership falling out. I had a long talk with Sean and the reason why he dropped out of flight simming, you can check out the link for some of the details. https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/588846-vertx-da62-information-for-those-interested/ Interesting to hear you're working with FlySimWare, I do have their Lear 35 and love flying it, they should be able to do wonders for a Legacy, although same sort of features as per RealAir's would be nice, including the hypoxia effects, (coincidentally I was just working on creation of a video in the RealAir Legacy to demonstrate the effects of oxy loss at altitude, Sean really coded a ton of stuff into hypoxia effects). What's your Legacy livery look like ? As to my sim, it's P3D v4.5.14 (the final v4.5 release), clouds are generated by a custom written cloud shader and uses Rex Texture Direct with Soft Clouds, you can overview my config & addons etc. via the below link. https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/636949-rogens-p3d-v4 Cheers Edited February 15, 20242 yr by Rogen Ryzen 5800X clocked to 4.7 Ghz (SMT off), 32 GB ram, Samsung 1 x 1 TB NVMe 970, 2 x 1 TB SSD 850 Pro raided, Asus Tuf 3080Ti P3D 4.5.14, Orbx Global, Vector and more, lotsa planes too. February 15, 20242 yr Author Thanks Rogen. I'd seen your post on Sean before and didn't realize you are the one that made it. Yes, I should download the other RAS aircraft... Wow, you've got a lot of improvements to your base sim and you really know how to get into the guts and make it do what you want :). You are definitely an expert and it is great of you to help out the community the way you do -- thank you! I've tried to insert an image of our airplane from a URL but it's not working for me again. I don't know why. But here's a link: https://imgur.com/a/B2msri7 Thanks!
February 17, 20242 yr Author Hi Rogen, I finally started making the mod's you recommended late today. I got held up right away as I cannot get my Windows 10 PC to let me extract the .CAB files. I tried doing it with Windows and 7-zip and I get the message "Access Denied". I'm working with administrator privileges so I'm not sure what's going on. I won't be able to work on it again until tomorrow, Colorado USA time. If you have any suggestions to deal with this they'd be much appreciated. Thanks!
February 17, 20242 yr Author Hello Rogen, I resolved my folder security restrictions and was able to implement your adjustments to properly integrate the RealityXP GTN 750 in my RAS Lancair Legacy -- thank you! Now the virtual cockpit has the GTN display properly in the F1 GTN bezel/frame and the bezel buttons work. And, the separate pop up window for the GTN, easiest to work with, has its bezels and buttons. Again, thank you so much for the help! ValinHawK
