That is true, sure. I wonder if for MSFS reinstallation, is it needed to also re-install all addons coming with a separate installer? Or does it work out of the box due to the community folder approach? I guess the only addons that really need re-installation are those writing something into the exe.xml, correct?

Some addons create folders in your userprofile (C:\....LocalState\ or something) , to keep track of savestates etc. I don't know whether these folders are created when you start the aircraft in MSFS or need to be created during installation.
Others might indeed add something to the exe.xml but these are rare.

I reinstalled MSFS and I now get what I used to get before things went downhill. Here is a short video around Manhattan in VR and in 2D.  Using mostly high or very high settings.

Still, switch to DX12 and activate DLSS and Frame Generation. See how it goes then.

Indeed. I wasted a lot more time troubleshooting than it took to reinstall MSFS. However, I still have to reinstall many utilities and addons and I will need to be very careful and do it in small steps to isolate what if any addon had caused the problem.

That is what dawned on me after wasting time chasing goblins.  Happy you're back to normal!
