November 15, 200718 yr OK,I have been FSing since my first Tandy but I have never used a microphone. Now I am using TrackIR with hat clip.I see the TrackIR Clip hooked to headset with microphone. How do I get a microphone to work with FS?I am assuming there is a way to talk to ATC?Thanks,Ron Bring back Chief Illiniwek!University of Illinois.
November 15, 200718 yr Hi Ron,The only two uses I've encountered in FS are for ATC and Multi Player. There may be others, I don't know.I used the VATSIM Network for ATC in FS9, using FSInn. Haven't tried it in FSX yet.http://www.vatsim.net/http://www.mcdu.com/One thing I've observed - people using a boom-mic headset generally sound better (to me) than those using a stand alone mic. Stand alone mic users typically talk loudly with the mic a couple feet away which results in some room reverberation. Not a big deal, really, just my observation.Cal - CYXX
November 15, 200718 yr Software like "Game Commander" and others will allow you to use your voice to input keyboard commands etc.
November 15, 200718 yr Where can I research that? Thanks Bring back Chief Illiniwek!University of Illinois.
November 15, 200718 yr http://www.gamecommander.com/One of the nice things is that you can use whatever word(s) you want for any singe or combination of keys so you can keep it all real wording for aviation actions that you can't forget :-)
November 16, 200718 yr RonThe other software you can use the mike with is "Voice Buddy" from the same people that gave you TrackIR!!RegardsPeter Hayes
November 16, 200718 yr You can also hook your microphone up to a direct intercom link to your mother/wife/girlfriend so you can give them commands like "more beer", "shush, I'm landing" and "get me a snack" from the comfort of your flight sim desk. If you try this, let us know how it turns out for you ;-)Gary 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11
November 16, 200718 yr I was thinking the same thing. When I am sitting here flying, talking into a mike and my wife (watching something on TV) hears no response and has no idea what I'm doing.will video record it and have me "put away".I'm not going to make it that easy for her to "get to the MONEY"! November 16, 200718 yr Author HelloI use Shoot 1.6.4 to control Radar Contact and Proflight Emulator ATC softwareRadar Contacthttp://www.jdtllc.com/ Profight Emulatorhttp://www.aerosoft.com/cgi-local/re/ibosh...gi?showd,,10544Before using Shoot i used FlightAssistant for a couple of years, both work well but i prefer the way shoot implements Push to Talk as it gives audible feedback of button press and successful command execution. it also has a good graphical command editor available for it.There is a good Shoot profile for FS9 by Peter Wilding here in the library. For a headset i am using a Saitek Impact since my Plantronics set broke last week and i am very impressedhttp://www.amazon.co.uk/Saitek-saitekheads...t/dp/B000K4XFNABe aware that nearly all these types of programs will be using Microsoft SAPI 5.1 as a backend, so performance will be much the same IE very good. There is also Vox-Atc and also FSCom ATC software with speech recognition built in.FScom has a built in flight planner, co-pilot checklists and global regionalised traffic chatter.http://www.pointsoftware.de/Vox-Atc is available in UK and US versions, there is a demo video also showing the Saitek headset and also TrackIr here.http://www.rcsimulations.com/voxatc.htmlVox-Atc , Radar Contact , Proflight Emulator all have forums here at Avsim.Flight Assistanthttp://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID...tils&DLID=39661Shoot 1.6.4http://clans.gameclubcentral.com/shoot/http://www.freewebs.com/reading1871/30.jpg
