FPS fluctuating

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I have recently had issues whereby in some flights I get fluctuating fps from 60 to 30 25 back up to consistency of 60fps at cruise.

some flights perfectly fine .

from ymml to yssy all payware and updated.

is that due to internet throttling ?

inhabe not updated to the new WU yet.

Using VR I'm very susceptible to FPS changes, what you describe has always been in the Sim even before we got VR and I was using flat screen. I could be flying over the Ocean, hundreds of miles from land in clear blue skies and the FPS will randomly go lower then come back up again.

Is it related to servers? Quite possibly going on the above example, but I've come to accept it's "one of those things" and hopefully MSFS2024 improves this area as there's nothing a user can do to improve this IMO.

Keep an eye on your temperatures.  CPU or GPU throttling could be occurring (I believe my CPU throttles at 90° and GPU at 83° though I added some extra cooliing to keep away from these limits).

I'm not sure how much effect internet throttling has on FPS though I do get the feeling that slowdowns occur when the MS servers seem slow or my router needs a reboot (an expert view on this would be helpful).

Yep mine isn't an overheating related issue either, my temps are rock solid safe.

I've always assumed this rare event is server or internet delivery related.  Usually it's associated with big demand on the main thread, but not always.  It's really quite rare it's of little consequence here.
