This happened here, I've ruled out WU16, Win 10 update on 2/3/24, shader cache files, installed new GPU driver, then the newer hotfix one, then back to my more recent one proven previously trouble-free.  I've been nearly stutter-free for over a year now and something major has changed.  For example, during pushback out of Gate B45 KDEN probably 20+ obvious stutters where normally there would be none.  And talking stuttering only--not loss of frame rate, and in the context of ample CPU/GPU/VRAM headroom.  Performance right up until 2/5/2024 has just gotten progressively better such that I might see only 1-3 stutters in a typical 2+ hour flight in complex planes/terminals.  Dynamic LOD played a big role in the final improvements.

I ask you to reply to help me decide if I should consider a reinstall of MSFS and its addons, perhaps using the opportunity to migrate to Win 11 (I would do a new clean install there if done), or hold off on the notion this is something likely on the server-side.  If lots of people are seeing this then no need to reinstall.

Also, if this is you, and you found a culprit for your own config share that here just in case it might help!

Thanks in advance

Noel

Things had been more stuttery for me for a while until I deleted my DX cache and installed the new hotfix driver a couple of days ago Noel, but super smooth since.

Generally, if I notice performance issues, I revert any recent changes I may have made to my Windows settings, Nvidia settings and MSFS settings.  I may also reboot my router if I suspect that download speeds/issues may be involved

invariably I find performance issues are the result of a recent download in my community folder, so isolate any recent additions I have installed temporarily, even on occasions emptying my community folder and rebuilding it gradually (usually in batches) until issues again begin to arise.

In respect of recent stuttering, I can only conclude that my stutters have related to the Nvidia drivers, having the feeling that the last 3 or 4 drivers had not really felt as good as I knew previous ones had felt.  The new hotfix ones have definitely made a big difference for me.

Up to that point, I was really starting to feel that choppy performance might have been related to slow downloading of scenery from the MS servers.

Whilst local performance issues are often related to a recent scenery addition around or near a specific airport or area, more general choppiness may be related to a more generic or worldwide addon, such as GAIST, electricity pylons, WeloveVFR, REX, FSLTL etc.  I do think that I now have so many of these running, that performance may have degraded somewhat due to the cumulative effect of the sheer number involved.

General maintenance should not be neglected such as running a disk clean up, purging of caches and temporary files along with the defragmentation of hard drives or trimming of SSDs (though Windows makes a decent job of this itself these days).

Finally, I may open my PC case and make sure everything is clear of dust as a gradual build up can gradually cause an increase in temperatures and of course hardware issues can be difficult to detect (I've seen hard drives, GPUs, PSUs, fans etc gradually dying over the years and these can sometimes be problematic to detect until they give up the ghost completely).

I've done all those things to no avail and I'm hyperaware of stuttering and loss of fluid animation.  Temps fine, as said GPU/CPU/VRAM headroom fine.  I'm pretty stumped at this point, and from few respondents it appears I'm not alone, which argues for holding off on a complete reinstall, no changes to the sim etc.   Two other titles I use are unchanged as well, that is are not affected by whatever the cause of this is.

I am having the same issue .

for instance flying into ybbn latest update from  orbx from yssy ft

landing at ybbn while taxing I would get micro stutters and also at cruise level.

And then it would fps would be fine and consistent.

in think it may be the servers?

TAA everything on ultra .

dx11

with a 7950x3d and 3080ti

2k monitor .

temps are fine, all hardware and software all

updated.

I have also lots of stuttering at cruise and suspect the winter season with heavy cloud cover but havent found out exactly why.

Well, don't know what to say other than thankfully, it's fixed itself.  Certainly suggests the issue was outside the box as it were.  About 5 days of bad stutters and now back to normal out of the same airports and plane.

Thank All
