SODE v1.8 causing problems in v5.3HF2

Have folks looked into the SODE log to see if there is a common cause or condition? FWIW SODE 1.8 works fine for me.

Cheers

Luke, no, I haven’t but it may well be down to hardware and perhaps what aircraft you fly.

Being a user of Pollypot GIT for my GoFlight kit and the PMDG737 amongst others I’m having a separate issue with that software not identifying my aircraft and loading the configuration file so my switches and buttons work. That also uses SimConnect alongside other programs so the interaction is quite complex.

The easiest way for me to check if SODE is working is via the Addon menu - check SODE. It never displays the message in the green banner with 1.8. It does with 1.7.1.

Does it for you? What other programs do you have that require SimConnect?

I have set the same option for SODE to enable for the disable addons screen as shown by Ray above, but there is no way to actually remove SODE from the Central download queue, so it's permanently stuck there! 😔

Mark, do you find the wording confusing? By default it appears auto updates are enabled by default but the red lettering says Disable. That actually means they’re enabled. How daft is that? 🤨 It should say Enabled.

So when you click that option the wording changes to Enable meaning auto updates are now off. Ye gods, you couldn’t make it up! It akin to double negatives.

There should be an option to hide any free utility such as SODE. But I feel ORBX aren’t bothered much these days if a long-standing issue like this remains unresolved.

Been there ... fought that... but I don't have either Orbx Central or 5.4 installed and am waiting v6 to stabilize and get decent support from developers....

Hi Ray,

Yes the way Orbx have named those options, I admit confused me too. 🙄 It certainly caused me to think 3 times about it and then I still wasnt sure, so I asked Nick C to confirm how that should be set up to disable the SODE update. As per your screenshot, you have it correctly configured to prevent the auto update of SODE.

I agree there should be a way to hide those utilities/tools, especially those add-ons that are not exclusively available via Orbx Central and can be obtained from other valid sources  i.e. the SODE web site.

Re SODE issues with v1.8, I don't know if Jeffrey is around any longer. There's a few forum posts that have not been answered in some months. Right now v1.71 seems to be OK with P3Dv5.

Cheers,

Mark, I had a notification from Nick saying he’d read this topic so had closed my ticket. I replied asking why the SODE notification cannot be hidden. I have no desire to see v1.8 is available.

It does appear the SODE developer has left the room.

Same here, no problems with it in V5 and V6.

However I agree with Ray, very annoying Orbx Central wanting to 'update' it even though you never installed it via OC.

Also the one time I did allow OC to 'update' it, it didn't even manage that correctly either !!

That's a bummer.

Thanks. I think Pollypot’s GIT may be having an impact as the timing of its launch is critical to correct Simconnect performance even with 1.7.1.

I just replied over at the other forum.

My thought would be to update the version file for SODE and set it to "1.80" even though I have v1.71 installed. Maybe this would then get rid of the notification flag and that an update is pending.

Basically I don't need v1.80  as I think I will stay put on P3Dv5.x.

Nick has provided the solution so SODE v1.8 doesn’t get installed from ORBX. It’s in the link Mark provided above. The Registry edit was easily done and checking in ORBX Central no red indicator is visible. Thanks to all concerned. 👏
