How to set 3rd party apps to autoload when launching MSFS?

Recommended Posts

If I can recall correctly back in FSX or P3D days, there was a way to get your desired 3rd party apps/utils to load up when launching the main sim. For example, in MSFS I have AIFLOW, AIGROUND, FSLTL Traffic Injector and MSFS2020_AutoFPS and I would like to get them to all load automatically when launching the sim. I am using MFSF Addons Linker to launch my sim. What would be the best solution to set this up?

Addons Linker will do this for you:

Is it better to do this through addon linker or FSUIPC?

If you are already using Addon Linker than that's a no-brainer IMO: Addon Linker.
It has plenty of options to determine the launch order or wait to launch certain applications until Simconnect is running.

I just use a batch file.  I will post below a copy of mine and you can edit it to load whatever you want.  I have a couple of entries commented out using // for stuff I do not use anymore or have starting at windows startup (TrackIR).

@echo off
//start "" "C:\Program Files (x86)\NaturalPoint\TrackIR5\TrackIR5.exe"
//start "" "C:\Users\Dad\AppData\Roaming\DynamicLOD\bin\DynamicLOD.exe"
start "" "C:\Users\Dad\AppData\Roaming\MSFS2020_AutoFPS\bin\MSFS2020_AutoFPS.exe
start "" "C:\Program Files\Little Navmap\littlenavmap.exe"
start "" "C:\Users\Dad\AppData\Local\Programs\fbw-installer\FlyByWire Installer.exe"
start "" "E:\XboxGames\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Content\FlightSimulator.exe"
exit

The old school way to do this, is to add entries to the EXE.XML file, in :-

C:\Users\[User name]\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache

Entries follow this format:-

Quote

<Launch.Addon>
        <Disabled>False</Disabled>
        <ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>
        <Name>Lorby Axis and Ohs</Name>
        <Path>C:\Program Files\LorbyAxisAndOhs_MSFS\LorbyAxisAndOhs_MSFS.exe</Path>
    </Launch.Addon>

I have TrackIR, ATC Chatter, Axis & Ohs and Process Lasso all set up to start with MSFS, using this file.

I do use Addon Linker but have not used it's auto start capability - it may be easier than setting up the above.
