Greetings from Bora Bora...Virtually... (20 Pics)...

Bora Bora is an island group in the South Pacific Ocean, of area only 12 sq miles, along with an airport and a runway of ~5,000 ft length. The island, I found to be one of the most serene, isolated, and exotic spots, in all my virtual flight experience. This small island in the middle of the vast South Pacific Ocean, is surrounded by the pristinely inviting and turquoise-colored (or is it "azure"..."Azure" is light blue while "Turquois" is blue with a touch of green...) ...waters of a lagoon and barrier reef and that's pretty much it. However, in the center of the mainland exist the remnants of an extinct (and lonely looking) volcano, rising (rather mysteriously) to nearly 2,500 ft, forming two predominant peaks (see below). The whole Bora Bora Island is actually the remnant of an ancient volcano, but these twin-peaks constitute the most unique signature of this island, which I'll now never forget....🙂...

The Bora Bora airport (NTTB) itself is built on a small (and detached) island surrounded on all sides by the (blue) lagoon. So, one would need to take a boat from the airport to get to the mainland. There is no regular passenger jet service to the island (so, probably you should not try to land there with your favorite A320/B737...🙂...). Though, I've magically transported my Cessna 172 into the island, it is typically the larger business jet types such as Gulfstream, Bombardier Global, and Dassault Falcon 900, which are the usual visitors...which goes to show that the island is probably the playground of the Rich and Famous...and possibly the few here, including yours truly, who have been seen flying around in their BizJets...🙂...

For this post, I've explored the island a bit, and then lifted off from Runway 29, in the evening glow, flying a few miles out into the ocean, and then have activated RNAV Y Rwy 11 Approach, on the modest Garmin of this (stock) Cessna 172, to head back for a landing on the runway (there are no ILS signals available for this runway, but the landing was not difficult) ...

Anyway, please find the following collection of images from my visit to this island. It was good fun for me, and I really wish I could be there in RW...🙂...watching the golden rays of the twilight sun, shining beautifully on those turquoise-colored waters of the lagoon...

Thanks for viewing and hope you enjoy...!

Nicely detailed look that raised my level of appreciation for Bora Bora as a sim destination site. Good-looking livery for that C172 also.

Excellent shots! 😉

Another great set of photos!

Great set, interesting text and some very nice shots. My favourite is #12 where for me everything looks 100%, wonderful

And I agree it's a good paint for that Skyhawk. I installed some paints from the marketplace for a little money but I am not really impressed by these, a bit boring...

Thank you, pmplayer...!

Yes, I found this island that I'd heard about, but never visited...indeed quite beautiful...mountains and oceans collocated together always has fascinated me...
