TTG LFPG not showing in P3D v5.4?

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Hi,

I'm slowly adding to a new installation of P3D5.  Previously I used this airport frequently.  Now I only see the default version.

Scenery.cfg shows three items in this order :  Terrain-Layerup-LFPG.  I found an old thread where changing this order solved the problem, but not for me.  That suggestion was :  Layer up - LFPG - Terrain.  I'm stumped!

Regards, Jim

Yep, there's something odd going on with Taxi2Gate's LFPG scenery in P3D v5.4--when I select the scenery in the scenario dialogue, it only shows the runways and no parking as starting point options.  But if I select a runway and start the sim there, the scenery is there, and GSX shows all the parking spots and will then let me "warp" to any parking spot just fine.

I checked KIND, which is another recent v5-specific T2G scenery, and the parking spots show up OK.  So I'm wondering if maybe P3D 5.4 has imposed some kind of new limit on the number of parking spots or similar that's impacting the way it handles the very large LFPG airport.  The scenery worked OK in 5.3, and I do not remember flying there since upgrading to 5.4.

With the Paris Olympics right around the corner, I'd sure like to see this get fixed.

Yes indeed, that appears to be it.

I removed all of the GA "DOCK" parking spots and recompiled the airport file in ADE, and now all the parking spots show up in the Scenario UI.  It appears that the P3D v5.4 Scenario UI can only handle a max of 255 parking spots (there are 272 in the original T2G LFPG V2 airport file).

So the options are to remove at least 17 parking spots and recompile the ADE to make it work normally, or start the sim on a runway and then reposition from there.

Hi Bob,

Thank you for such an informative reply.  My last install of LFPG was before vf5.4.  I checked in Simmarket, and downloaded an "LFPG-V2-P3Dv5.exe", but it must have been for before v5d.4.

I'm not clever enough to do any editing, so I'll just have to write if off, and avoid Paris from now on.

Regards, Jim

@jimh, or revert to 5.3HF2. I did that after problems with freezes using AIG Ai BGL flightplans. Random freezes all over the world.

Reverted to 5.3HF2 and no issues and none with T2G LFPG.

Hi Ray,

Can I revert without losing what I have installed into my so recently installed v5.4?

I'm a very old guy, hoping to be able to fly the Sim for a bit longer!

It’s dead easy. Go to Control Panel - Add / Remove Programs.

Select P3D v5.4 Client. Choose Uninstall. Keep your licence active.

Then open the P3D v5.3HF2 zip file and extract the contents.

Run the P3Dv5Client.msi.

That’s it. All your scenery and dll.xml, exe.xml and add-on.cfg files are not touched.

You can also revert the Content and Scenery if you wish. Just uninstall in the following order…

  • Scenery
  • Content
  • Client

then install as follows running the appropriate msi file.

  • Client
  • Content
  • Scenery

What on earth possessed LM to introduce that restriction? Good lord! They release these point updates that are seemingly minor tweaks but in reality some are quite major changes.

Hi Ray,

I've looked in P3D Legacy - Downloads.  I can only see v5.3.17.  How do I get P3D v5.3HF2 zip.  My only other P3D downloads are for previous full versions.

Jim, I’m pretty sure 5.3.17.28160 is 5.3HF2. You’ll need to download the full version and extract the contents.

Well, I just shot my theory down with some further testing.  I can't duplicate the fix now...it's back to only showing runways in the Scenario UI.

Time to send an e-mail to T2G and see if they'll respond.

Run MakeRunways and see what it returns.

Not sure how that would help--MakeRunways does not index parking locations.  And clearly they're there, since GSX and SODE both see the parking spots and function normally when you're on one.

It does Bob. I’ve created an Access database for parking positions by airport. g5.csv holds them. I see 273 gates at LFPG. All gates, nothing for GA.

IIRC the layer-up was an empty folder (or at least in v4), might have been another T2G scenery though...

Not sure you need it.

Secondly if you use JetStream Paris-Orly (LFPO), the configurator has an option to enable a basic LFPG AFCAD, to limit AI traffic and so improve FPS at Orly.

Not sure it helps, might be helpful
