Shimmering and Grainy

Recommended Posts

In general, I feel like my textures aren't as clear as I have seen and often times, i get shimmering in the distance, particularly at airports (3rd Party).  What settings can I look at to see what could be causing this?  Clouds are grainy as well and when at high altitudes, the ground looks grainy too.  Thanks

You may be over-sharpening, either in-sim or in the Nvidia Control Panel -- or both.

Try disabling Film Grain in the sim's .cfg file.

Does sound like film grain or too much sharpening.

What would an over sharpening setting look like in the settings?  I was on 16x AF and 6x6 supersample in the sim and on TAA.  Would switching to anything different be advised in the sim or in Nvidia?

Re shimmering....there is a setting in NCP named "Texture Filtering - Anisotropic sample optimisation" it says set this to "Off"  if you see shimmering on objects.

I think it is set to off by default but it might be worth checking

I sometimes at night see very grainy EFB and main displays which is really weird usually towards the end of the flight. Only at night. Does anyone else see this sometimes?

When you say too much sharpening, do you mean AMD Sharpening in the sim?
