Hiking the Cradle Mountain area

Featured Replies

For me it is always a pleasure to use the sim to repeat real travels, in this case a hike I did 2 months ago. It would officially (and by helicopter) start from the Cradle Mountain Visitor Center.

If you enter the National Park before the bus shuttles start, you may even drive by car towards Ronny Creek parking. You see the cars below...

... and the start signs here.

Just for your orientation: We follow the Overland track until Crater Lake...

Then it gets hard, the warning signs are no joke. Slightly easier in a helicopter...

... to get to Marions Lookout.

The easiest part is walking over the high plains towards Kitchen Hut.

I turned left along Face Track...

... but walking back down Lake Wilks Track (you see part of the track just right of the little Lake Wilks) can not be considered "walking" either: You don´t see it here...

... but there is a tough chain descend as well.

Once you´re down at Dove Lake it gets easy for the walker, and just before the end you´ll reach the Insta-famous hut - where you meet with all the day tourists.

The hard part for the simmer comes now: Landing the chopper somewhere near the Visitor Center. Do not be surprised why I do not show a screenshot from that situation here...

Cheers, Gerold
