Featured Replies

After an overnight stay in an hotel of questionable quality here in Kathmandu, I fly on to Skardu in Pakistan this morning. Unfortunately, the hotels there are no better

Along the Indian-Tibetan border

The mountains around me look quite impressive, but none of them are higher than 5,300 meters

I am now in Chinese/Tibetan airspace. In front of me lies Mapam Yumco Lake, which is one of the highest freshwater lakes in the world and one of the three sacred lakes of Tibet. It is 4,583m above sea level, has an area of 412km² and is around 70 meters deep. "Mapam" means "invincible" in Tibetan, "Yumco" means "lake of jade"

Approaching Skardu. The weather is slowly closing in and Skardu is strictly VFR. So I was lucky, I guess

It would, but I don't have a shower installed in the plane 🙂

Nice set Bernd, and I'm with Gerold on this. Hey, if they can fit full size showers and bathrooms on a 380 they can do it on one of these!

Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used

Fantastic series of pictures from this fascinating region...bernd...! Thanks for sharing these bits of geography ...!

BTW, it's very interesting that you have made a reference to Mapam Lake. When I had done a (MSFS) post about the Brahmaputra River of the Himalayas, I'd come to know that this incredible river's source glacier is within 60 miles of this Mapam Lake. This lake is also called Lake Manasarovar in India...of mythical proportions...Brahmaputra River makes its way from near Mapam Lake all the way down through the Himalayas into the Indian Ocean...
