Frame generation in XP12

Featured Replies

AFAIK bellow a given FPS threshold XP's flight dynamics begin to get degraded - believe it's 20 fps ?

So while this kind of app looks great, be careful if you try to set base FPS near 20 in order to apply a factor of 2 or 3 and get 40 or 60, because this trick of injecting AI-generated frames is not "seen" by the FM engine, and you might get weird results...

For me, with a 60Hz monitor, I always set XP to run as close as possible to 30 fps, either through half-VSync or limiting, so this app could possibly help me change the end FPS to appear like 60 fps.

Bought the FF767 package today and it's apparently one of the biggest FPS hogs. Purchased Lossless Scaling. Amazing results. YES, if your initial FPS get to be 15 or so, you will see artifacts at fast camera angle adjustments, but the benefit is HUGE on just flying, Amazing results, I highly recommend it.

LR folk on social media don’t mind people using it. They say it’s potentially exciting tech. I posted a topic about it on MSFS forums but it was hidden cause MS and Asobo are looking at it but prohibit it being mentioned on their forums right now. (LOL). Gonna test it out with MSFS too.

Essentially, it won’t rescue you if your sim is slowed down to a crawl. But it WILL make things smoother as long as your original FPS is 15 or higher. With the 767, I was able to get smooth performance with virtually no artifacts when camera moves as long as the original frames didn’t dip below 15. This is on MAX settings, mind you, and a RTX 2060. MSAA can be dialed down to 2x or 4x. FXAA enabled.

I think this type of stuff will be integrated into windows and xbox natively going forward.  I'm sure they are well aware.

Microsoft is getting its own AI upscaling technology baked straight into Windows 11 that will appear on the latest Copilot+ PCs. It’s called Automatic Super Resolution, or Auto SR, and it should work on any game you’re playing on PC. While there’s still a smorgasbord of potential pitfalls, it promises gamers they can hit higher framerates on less-capable PCs, all without needing any of the latest Nvidia or AMD discrete GPUs.

That's great and dandy, but I don't see a reason to ban discussions of another option. If Microsoft has the Edge browser, are they gonna ban discussion of all other browsers? That's just counterproductive to the idea of free market and healthy competition. If they think their AI upscaling is better, let the product speak for itself.

Not sure why, but when I enable Lossless Scaling goes immediately to 60/120 without doing anything good, but robs the actual FPS big time instead.

It worked yesterday, but today it locks up and isn't doing the job. I have rebooted and restarted XP enough to give up.

I use three monitors and LS does work on the main monitor quite well when needed, but not today. Any suggestions?

Have you started rivatuner, if that's what you're using to limit the frames?

I don't use any frame limiter and have removed ReShade completely for the time being - the other games and sims be darned.

It started working again magically. I changed nothing except did another reboot. I will nail it down someday - has done this before and saw others with a similar comment somewhere, maybe on reddit.

If you find the culprit please let js know through here.
