July 4, 20241 yr I can load an existing flight plan into aircraft which have a Garmin G1000 but cannot work out how to do that with the MCDU in an A320. I have tried loading via MSFS but it does not automatically populate the A320 MCDU. I remember years ago that with a B737 in FSX it could be done via the CO RTE (company route) but cannot remember how I did it and can't get one imported into the A320 MCDU. I have watched a youtube tutorial which uses SIMBRIDGE. Is that the only method to load the MCDU with an existing flight plan? Is there documentation and/or a youtube tutorial I have missed? July 4, 20241 yr Author Thanks for your quick reply Yes I refer to the default MSFS Asobo A320. The youtube tutorial I watched referred to FlyByWire (application) Simbridge which I think links to Simbrief. The tutorial can be seen via FlyByWire A32nx | Company Routes | Store Company routes in the MCDU which appears to describe firstly how to store a 'company route' which is then obtainable via CO RTE in the MCDU. Those flight plans appear to be stored (using OFP - Flight Plan Downloads in SimBrief) as an xml file in a different folder than the normal MSFS flight plans folder. Is that the only method to be able to load an existing flight plan into the MCDU via CO RTE? July 4, 20241 yr I generally use the [amazing/excellent] FBW A320, so will need to refresh my memory as to how it works with the default A320. I don't think you need to use Simbridge. As regards Simbrief, there's a handy little utility called "Simbrief Downloader" that can save flightplans to all sorts of locations. Much better than the default download functions on Simbrief itself. However ... you'll rarely need to use the MSFS flightplan - you generally use the Flypad/tablet thing (whatever it's called) to import the Simbrief plan, then go to the MCDU to do the same. Once you've done it a couple of times, it's a piece of cake (!!).
July 4, 20241 yr Author Thanks for the advice. While waiting for more replies I noted that I had selected the A310 NOT the A320 and so selected the A320NEO and noted the EFB is different and allows input of an OFB and a Simbrief plan so I can now move forward. Strange that the A310 EFB doesn't seem to have that open and also I noted the A310 allows you to configure the aircraft as already started and then 'make it default' which doesn't seem to work as the next time I started a flight it was in the cold and dark state which was annoying. Anyway I now won't be using it. Thanks again. Regards John Gigabyte Z390 m/b, i7 9700K cpu, 16Gb Hyper X Fury 3200 ram, RTX2060 6Gb, Gigabyte 32" monitor, MSFS 2020 store edition
July 4, 20241 yr The way I load the simbrief-FP into default 320Neo/MCDU is as follows: - Create FP in simbrief. Under "Flight Plan Downloads" select "FS2020". Filename is shown as .pln-file and "Download". Store file wherever you want. - In MSFS - Worldmap select "(Space)More" and then "(Space)Load/Save" (or just press double-Space). Under "Load from this PC" select your stored FP pln-file and the FP is in your MCDU. Only Arrival-Data have to be manually added. That's it.
