After a system restore

Featured Replies

Hi ,

i made a very bad call a couple of days ago and tried to merged my partion resulting in a very bad situation. I have a Windows KB update lately that just will not update proberly because my recovery partion is to small.

Never the less i tried some suggestions and again might have done something wrong. Normally i would re-install from an old system image without issues but this time i was not allowed because of some UEFI/BIOS related stuff.  I did succeded by turning off boot security and UEFI Windows after 4 hours. .

My main question is really if you also have to reinstall all aircraft from Fenix ,A2A , PMDG after this ? They are located as normal but i still need to reinstall.

Thanks

what happens  when you run msfs if  it  runs  with the  aircraft than can't see  any issues

I haven't had many disasters with Windows, but one was when I also tried to merge or extend my C: partition (using well known software).  It was a complete train crash, and I had to reinstall everything, so I feel your pain Michael.

I would say, only ever merge non-system partitions.  In other words, leave the C: drive alone.  Even then, I lost some data on merging two data partitions once.
I had to run software to try to get the files back.  I got them back, but then they wouldn't open and seemed full of zeros when I checked them.  I would say only ever resize and merge any partitions as an absolute last resort.

Just one thing, I know you had to do it to get going again, but turning off UEFI / boot security can leave you very vulnerable to attack unless you can re-apply it.
By 'very vulnerable', I mean potentially a complete take-over of your PC by malicious software.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Thanks  , yes i can activate the UEFI/security after the rebuild of the system. All aicraft dont work so i am re-installing . The same goes for GSX Pro.

During my restore i even couldnt use my recovery DVD drive as bootdisc at first as a multimedia driver was missing but in the end all is now good.

Thanks Michael Moe
